    • Disclosed herein are an autonomous driving apparatus and method for a vehicle. The autonomous driving apparatus includes an autonomous driving context data processing unit, a simulator unit, a section determination unit, a path planning unit, and a context determination main control unit. The autonomous driving context data processing unit gathers autonomous driving context data. The simulator unit simulates autonomous driving based on the gathered autonomous driving context data. The section determination unit determines a reliable section or an unreliable section based on results of the simulation. The path planning unit searches for at least one global path to a set destination based on results of the determination, and searches the at least one global path for a local path along which the autonomous driving is possible. The context determination main control unit controls the autonomous driving of the vehicle along the local path.

    • Disclosed herein is an apparatus for detecting vehicles using laser scanner sensors. The apparatus includes a vehicle location detection unit, a shadow area detection unit, an estimation unit, and a control unit. The vehicle location detection unit detects information about locations and headings of target vehicles located in a local detection area from sensors arranged on the road. The shadow area detection unit calculates shadow areas corresponding to the respective sensors based on the information about the locations of the target vehicles and information about types of the target vehicles. The estimation unit estimates the locations and shadow areas of the target vehicles which will be obtained after a predetermined time has elapsed. When a specific target vehicle tries to enter one of the estimated shadow areas, the control unit outputs a speed control command used to decrease the speed of the specific target vehicle.

    • A congestion control unit and method in an ATM network is disclosed. The congestion control unit includes a congestion detector, a congestion controller and a routing controller. The congestion detector receives the measured number of cells generated from an output link through an ATM switch module, transmits the measured number of cells to an adaptive connection admission control unit, and detects the state of the output link by use of a utilization of a cell transmission link. The congestion controller receives congestion state information from the congestion detector and receives a cell loss ratio through the ATM switch module. The congestion controller transmits a backward resource management cell to a user or generates a routing control request signal so as to assign the load of the input traffic to another affordable link, and supplies a monitor parameter to the ATM switch module. The routing controller receives the routing control request signal from the congestion controller, and supplies routing information on an affordable link of the same destination to the ATM switch module.
