摘要： An apparatus and method for improved control of low viscosity fluid flow during electrohydrodynamic spray deposition of the fluid to coat small targets, such as medical devices like stents. The apparatus includes a target holder which applies a first electrical potential to a target, a coating fluid transporter such as a wick, a siphon tube or a siphon tube with a wick therein along which the coating fluid flows from a reservoir to a dispensing end of the transporter, and an electrode which applied a second electrical potential to the coating fluid sufficient to cause the coating fluid to be attracted from the dispensing end of the transporter toward the target. This provides a target coating apparatus with highly self-regulating coating fluid flow characteristics despite the low viscosity of the coating fluid, while producing highly consistent and uniform target coatings.

The endoscope includes an illumination mechanism, an image sensor, and an elongate shaft having one or more lumens located therein. An articulation joint at the distal end of the endoscope allows the distal end to be oriented by the actuators in the control cabinet or actuators in a control handle of the endoscope. Fluidics, electrical, navigation, image, display and data entry controls are integrated into the system along with other accessories.

摘要： A multi-functional endoscopic system, for use in electrosurgical applications, that includes an imaging endoscope that may be used in combination with various electrosurgical devices, all of which are sufficiently inexpensive to manufacture, such that the endoscope and electrosurgical devices are considered single use, disposable items. The multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention is suitable for use with a variety of common electrosurgical devices that require electrical/electronic support in order to function. The electrical/electronic support for these electrosurgical devices (e.g., an electrosurgical generator and associated controls) is integrated with the operator console of the imaging endoscope of the multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention, rather than provided as a separate device. In another embodiment of the invention, an imaging endoscope is provided that integrates or combines the functions of both an imaging endoscope and an electrosurgical device, which can be controlled by a single handheld controller.

摘要： A control mechanism for automatically steering the distal end of an endoscope into a body cavity. During advancement of the endoscope, the control mechanism directs the distal tip to be moved in a sweep pattern. Images obtained during the sweep pattern are combined and analyzed in order to determine the desired direction of advancement of the endoscope. The distal end of the endoscope is then oriented in the direction of the desired advancement direction. An autoexamination feature can be activated that automatically moves the distal tip in a desired sweep pattern. Images of a body cavity are obtained during each sweep pattern for analysis by the physician.

摘要： The present invention comprises a single use fluid reservoir for use with a disposable medical device. The single use fluid reservoir has a reservoir body that includes a fluid holding tank. The fluid holding tank includes at least one inlet to admit fluid and at least one outlet to dispense fluid. The fluid reservoir body also has a structure for fixedly connecting the reservoir to the disposable medical device. In some embodiments, the fluid reservoir body has a snap-together structure that is capable of permanently connecting the fluid reservoir to a proximal connector of an endoscope. The fluid reservoir may include a mechanism for alerting an operator to the amount of liquid in the reservoir.

摘要： An endoscopic imaging system for examining a patient's body cavity includes an endoscope having a distal end, a proximal end and a number of lumens therein. One or more distal gas ports are disposed at or adjacent the distal end of the endoscope and one or more proximal gas ports are disposed proximal to the distal gas ports. Insufflation gas is delivered to the distal gas ports and withdrawn from the proximal gas ports or vice versa such that a gas bubble is formed in the body cavity and travels with the distal tip of the endoscope.
