    • A system, method, and computer-readable medium for controlling power applied to a heating element. A rectifier receives AC voltage supplied from an AC voltage supply and rectifies the AC voltage to DC voltage. A pulse-width modulation controller generates and transmits a pulse-width modulation signal, and a DC voltage modulator receives the DC voltage from the rectifier and the pulse-width modulation signal from the pulse-width modulation controller. Based on the pulse-width modulation signal, the DC voltage modulator supplies an analog DC voltage signal to the heating element. A feedback circuit reports the actual DC voltage applied to the heating element to a microcontroller and, if the actual DC voltage deviates from the DC voltage encoded in the pulse-width modulation signal, the pulse-width modulation controller modulates the pulse-width modulation signal to minimize or eliminate the deviation.

    • An ocular mounting assembly for adjustably mounting a pair of ocular devices, such as telemicroscopic loupes, to an eyeglass frame or head mount with linear and rotational adjustments, but with view angle being permanently preset in accordance with working distance. The ocular mounting assembly includes an adjustable ocular support assembly and an adjustable clamp assembly rotatably attached to the ocular support assembly. The ocular mounting assembly includes a housing and two slidable mounting arms to which the ocular devices are attached, the transverse cross-sectional shape of the housing interior and mounting arms being such that substantially all of the volume of the housing interior is consumed apart from close tolerances to facilitate the sliding motion, thus resulting in a structure which cooperates to assist in providing a substantially rigid assembly.

    • A compact, high-intensity light assembly including a substantially hollow shell having a distal end from which the light emerges and a proximal end into which a base unit inserts. A lamp guide holds the light source in a central position within the shell using a spring which urges a rear portion of the lamp guide against an annular seating lip on the base unit. The lamp guide preferably includes a necked-down portion having an inner surface which makes holding contact with the outer surface of the light source, and an outer surface including heat-radiating features. In a preferred embodiment, the base unit is insertable into the proximal end of the shell by way of a threaded connection, enabling the lamp guide and light source to be adjustably moved relative to the distal end of the shell so as to focus the light from the source into a preferred illumination area. The preferred embodiment also includes a shield bracket attached to the proximal end of the shell and a fastening clip attached to the shield bracket facilitating at least two adjustable degrees of freedom.
