    • An imaging system of a type producing a plurality of X-Y matrices representing projection views of an object for later reconstruction using parts of a plurality of the views employs correlation techniques for determining the amount of motion along X and Y axes. The detected motion may be removed by suitably shifting later data to align it with earlier data, or vice versa. In one embodiment, all brightness values parallel to the X axes of two views are summed to develop two one-dimensional arrays containing information about the brightness patterns in the Y direction. One of the two one-dimensional arrays is shifted, and the two one-dimensional arrays multiplied, pixel-by-pixel, and the products are summed to provide a measure of similarity between the brightness patterns in the one-dimensional arrays. Repeated shifts produce a correlation function the shift position of whose maximum is a good approximation of the amount of motion occurring between the two views. The detected motion may be used to alert the operator that the data is faulty or to permit automatic alignment of all data from a scan. An identical process may be performed along the Y axis to detect and correct motion along the X axis, in certain restricted cases.

    • The invention is a filter apparatus and method for separating suspended solids from fluids, particularly liquids. A filter chamber is defined inside a filter housing. Inside the chamber is a filter bundle, consisting of two or more filter screens, of a non-woven construction. Spaces between the filter screen strands provide channels for fluid to flow through the filter bundle along a tortuous path that is parallel to each screen. These spaces also define openings for directing a flushing fluid, such as air, in a crosswise direction through the filter screens. The crossflow path of the flushing fluid removes solid particles trapped in the channels of the filter screens.

    • The specification discloses a method and apparatus for determining the gel time of thermoset resins by using a disposable vial, a disposable spindle for insertion into the vial, a locking collar releasably secured to the disposable vial for mounting the vial in a permanent sample cup and holding it against rotation with respect thereto, and a spindle adaptor releasably receiving the disposable spindle for mounting same to the spindle mount of a conventional viscometer. The thermoset resin is located in the disposable vial along with the disposable spindle. The permanent sample cup including the disposable vial and its contents is located in a heater and the spindle adaptor is secured to the spindle mount of the viscometer. The viscometer is operated and the gel time is determined as the length of time it takes until the viscosity of the heated resin sample begins to increase sharply.

    • An electrical disconnect tool (10) for insulatably gripping and removing a high voltage terminator (41) from a connector (43) is disclosed. The terminator (41) has a removal hook (40). The tool (10) includes an elongate tube (14) having first and second ends. A working head (13) is cooperatively connected to the second of the elongate tube. The working head (13) includes a plurality of opposed jaw members (23a) through (23c) for gripping the terminator (41).
