摘要： A method and assembly for protecting a device connected to a wiring harness is disclosed. The assembly includes a protective shield having a bore for receiving the device and a positioning device. An elongated wiring harness extends from the device being protected and through the bore of the protective shield. The positioning device is formed having a band that surrounds a central space. At least one flexible, resilient finger extends radially inwardly from the band into the central space. At least one of the fingers forcibly engages the harness sleeve to maintain the positioning device and the protective shield in a predetermined protection position along the harness sleeve at least partially surrounding the device being protected.

摘要： Multilayer sleeves for insulating or protecting elongated substrates are disclosed. The sleeves are continuously knitted in different sections integrally joined end to end, the sections being formed of different filamentary members chosen for desired characteristics. The sleeves are formed into the multilayer configuration by reverse folding the sleeves inwardly to place one section coaxially within another. Sleeve ends may be finished with welts to prevent raveling and serve as a clinch on the elongated substrates. Rib knits are used to form insulating air pockets lengthwise along the sleeves to augment the insulating effectiveness.

摘要： A knitted convolute protective sleeve is disclosed. The sleeve is knitted from filamentary members to form alternating crests and troughs lengthwise along the sleeve. The crests and troughs may be formed by alternatingly knitting segments from relatively stiff and relatively flexible filamentary members, by interlacing stiffening hoops at spaced intervals lengthwise along a knitted sleeve having a smaller nominal diameter than the hoops, or by varying the knitting parameters, such as loop density and loop length as a function of length along the sleeve.

摘要： A woven sleeve is used for bundling elongated substrates. The illustrative embodiment is interwoven of monofilament warp members and fill yarns comprised of compliant material such as bulky multifilament yarn. Supplement monofilaments extending lengthwise of the fabric are separated into individual pieces, each including a section cradled in the compliant material of a fill yarn and are locked in the cradle position by at least one of the warp members. End sections of the individual pieces project outwardly and terminate in hooks which interlock with an exposed section of the compliant material to effect closure of the sleeve around the elongated substrates. A sleeve of the type described may also be provide with integral hooks to attach the sleeve to loop-type other loop material on a support surface.
