摘要： A method and apparatus for calendering polymeric vinyl films exhibiting high gloss and structural stability. Specifically, the invention presents a method and apparatus for calendering polyvinyl chloride film of such a nature. In accordance with the invention, a casting sheet is interposed within the calendering head wherein a blend of polyvinyl chloride resin is formed, in standard fashion, into a continuous film web. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the casting sheet, preferably of heat resistant polyester film, is introduced into a nip between existent processing rolls near the end of the processing head. Alternatively, a separate nip may be provided by the addition of a separate roll in juxtaposition to a final roll in the calendering head. In either instance, the casting sheet is forcefully applied to the polyvinyl chloride film prior to engagement with the embossing rolls of the manufacturing process.

摘要： A breathable film cover for transparent plastic plates employed as windows and the like. A metalized plasticized polyvinyl chloride film is adhesively laminated to a polycarbonate or polyacrylate plate by means of an adhesive having a UV absorber. The plasticized PVC film allows for the escape of moisture emanating as a result of degasification of the polycarbonate or polyacrylate plates. The permeability of the PVC or polyvinyl chloride film to moisture allows the metalized plasticized polyvinyl chloride film to remain adhered to the plates without bubbles, craters or tunnels.

摘要： A double-sided silicone-coated liner, particularly adapted for use in self-wound tapes is described which is a paper upon which a silicone coating layer is deposited on one surface and a water vapor permeable silicone coating layer is applied on the liner's opposed second surface. The liner surfaces may optionally be clay coated, the clay coating adjacent to the water vapor permeable silicone coating layer also having water vapor permeability.The tape made using this particular liner typically additionally has a carrier layer with an adhesive sandwiched between the silicone coating layer and the carrier. The tape is prepared by the steps of coating the liner with a silicone layer on a first side of the liner; drying the silicone layer; coating an adhesive onto an exposed surface of the silicone layer; laminating a carrier layer onto the adhesive; coating a second side of the liner, opposed from the first side with a water vapor permeable silicone layer; drying the water vapor permeable silicone layer; and remoisturizing the liner.
