摘要： An elongated flow-through degassing apparatus includes an elongated gas permeable outer shell and one or more gas-permeable, liquid-impermeable elongated inner conveyance members extending within the outer shell and at least partially through a chamber defined within the outer shell. The apparatus also includes inlet and outlet junctions for securing the outer shell to the inner conveyance member. The outer shell exhibits a first permeance that is substantially greater than a second permeance of the inner conveyance member. The degassing apparatus may be sufficiently flexible so as to be readily manipulatable into desired configurations.

摘要： A flow-through vacuum degassing unit for degassing a mobile phase in liquid chromatography applications includes a relatively flat self-supporting thin membrane disposed in a compact degassing component, whereby the thin membrane is gas-permeable and liquid-impermeable to selectively degas a mobile phase. The self-supporting thin membrane is disposed on a permeable substrate through which a vacuum is drawn by a connected vacuum source. In a particular embodiment, the self-supporting membrane may be directly cast on the permeable substrate through a solvent-free thermal process.

摘要： A temperature control system for a liquid chromatographic column includes a thin film heater/sensor comprising a foil-like patterned heating element adhesively mounted between a pair of flexible electrically insulative layers. A patterned foil-like temperature sensing element is also coextensively adhesively mounted between the insulative layers in temperature sensing relationship to the heating element. The thin film heater/sensor is wrapped around the chromatographic column and is uniformly compressively secured in contact therewith by a spirally tubularly wound length of flexible wrapping. A remote temperature sensing element controls the heat output of the heating element a linear proportional fashion, thereby maintaining a predetermined temperature gradient over the length of the column. A pre and post-column heaters may be similarly wrapped with a thin film heater/sensors so as to appropriately control the temperature of the liquid entering or leaving the column. The heater/sensor may include a plurality of foil-like patterned heating elements and sensors displaced along the length of the column to define a plurality of heating zones controlled by a patterned foil-like temperature sensing element in sensing relation to respective one of the zones.
