摘要： The invention relates to the management of vascular patency by the use of implanted devices delivering one or more energies to a target vascular tissue wherein such energy delivery sources are substantially located in the vicinity of a target vascular region. The invention preferably employs electric currents as energy and utilizes one or more electrodes positioned in the vicinity of a target region and one or more electrodes located elsewhere. Such devices may be useful in the management of stenotic lesion formation adversely associated with a loss of patency in a variety of disease states or conditions, including vascular patency needed for hemodialysis used in the treatment of kidney failure.

In preferred embodiments, the system utilizes one or more on-body monitoring platforms to enable measurement of change in body composition and kilocalorie energy expenditure over a period of time thereby enabling a comparator to calculate net energy balance over this period of time and to calculate kilocalorie intake over this same period of time. Such data may then be displayed on a display device in wireless communication with the on-body monitoring platform to provide the user of the system with useful information and guidance in weight management applications.

摘要： A platform for photoelectrophoretic transport and electronic hybridization of fluorescence labeled DNA oligonucleotides in a low conductivity electrolyte is described. A chemically stabilized semiconductor photodiode or photoconductor surface is coated with a streptavidin-agarose permeation layer. Micro-illumination of the surface generates photo-electrochemical currents that are used to electrophoretically transport and attach capture strands, preferably biotinylated DNA, to arbitrarily selected locations. The same process is then used to transport and electronically hybridize fluorescence labeled DNA target strands to the previously attached capture strands. Signal detection is accomplished either by a fluorescence scanner or a CCD camera. This represents a flexible electronic DNA assay platform that need not rely on pre-patterned microelectronic arrays.
