A spray gun for coating the interiors of tubes has an arbor 40 supplied with liquid by a pipe 22, and the liquid passes through a passage 56 to a chamber 57 at the outlet end of which a nozzle 48 is screwed. A rotor 71 is mounted on bearings 60, and includes a nozzle 96 from which an air stream is ejected to atomize the liquid emitted from the nozzle 48. Air is fed through a pipe 24 and passes through passages 52, 58 in the arbor and passages 65, 90 in the rotor to a chamber 91. From the chamber some of the air escapes from an annular passage surrounding the liquid nozzle and some flows to the air nozzle 96; a further proportion passes to a pair of passages 93 which emit air tangentially from the rotor periphery whereby the rotor is driven by jet reaction. Liquid flow from the nozzle 48 is controlled by a needle 47 attached to a piston 45 urged forwardly by a spring 28 in a member 27. When the air pressure is sufficient the piston is urged rearwardly and the needle retracted from the nozzle. A governor for controlling the rotor speed consists of a pair of curved arms 80 located in the chamber 91 and pivoted about posts 82. Springs 85 act upon shoulders 81 of the arms and are hooked around posts 86 and engage with pins 87. If the rotor speed exceeds a predetermined value the arms move outwardly and partially close the air supply to the jet passages 93. Surplus spray liquid fed to the device is returned to its source by a pipe 22.
