The method comprises receiving a session setup request from an originating party, requesting a session with a destination party. The setup request comprises a capability indication associated with the originating party and a session type indication. The method further comprises determining capabilities of devices in a first communication context associated with the destination party and comparing the capabilities of the devices in the first communication context to the capability indication and to the session type indication in the received request Still further, the method comprises determining a level of correspondence between the capability indication and the session type indication, and the capabilities of devices in the first communication context, and indicating a device in the first communication context having a suitable level of correspondence to the capability indication associated with the originating party and the session type indication.

摘要： A method and apparatus for establishing a requested communication session between two terminals (A, B) over a given physical channel, wherein the session requires the determination of session parameters before the session can be executed. It is determined (402) by means of at least one session key, whether any session parameters for a previous session between the terminals have been stored in the terminals. If so, the stored session parameters are retrieved (408), such that the requested session can be executed (410) based on the retrieved session parameters. In this way, delays involved with the establishment of sessions requiring the determination of parameters, e.g. in multimedia calls, can be reduced.

摘要： An imaging system and method for alleviating perceptional problems of a viewer during the transmission and display of high resolution still images on a video system is disclosed. Through modifications to an encoder and decoder within the imaging system, the viewer may select a still image or portion thereof from a video image sequence for viewing. The imaging system and method ameliorate perceptional delays in displaying the lengthy high resolution still image by immediately displaying a lower-resolution, shorter-length video image frame corresponding to the still image. The lower resolution video image being displayed is then updated and refined with the image data from the high resolution still image as it is received.

摘要： A method and apparatus for determining session parameters for a communication session between a first terminal (A) and a second terminal (B). At least the first terminal has stored at least one default set of session parameters. An identifier (404) corresponding to a proposed default set of session parameters is sent from the first terminal to the second terminal. Then, it is determined whether the second terminal accepts the proposed default set of session parameters or not. If accepted (406), the proposed default set of session parameters is retrieved in order to execute the session (408). Otherwise, the terminals fall back to a regular session setup procedure. In this way, delays and bandwidth consumption can be substantially reduced by using a minimum of messaging between the two terminals.
