    • The invention refers to a plate-like backing pad (20) adapted for releasable attachment to a hand-held polishing or sanding power tool (2). The backing pad (20) comprises a center axis (34), a top surface (50), a damping layer (52) made of resilient plastic material and attached to the top surface (50), an even bottom layer (22) attached to a bottom surface (56) of the damping layer (52) and adapted for releasable attachment of a polishing or sanding member (24), and an attachment member (38) provided on the top surface (50) and adapted for releasable attachment to a corresponding attachment element (32) of the hand-held power tool (2), in particular of a tool shaft (28) or an eccentric element (30) of the hand-held power tool (2). It is suggested that the top surface (50) of the backing pad (20) has a central region (58) extending around the center axis (34) and an external region (60) surrounding the central region (58), that the central region (58) is recessed in respect to the surrounding external region (60), and that the attachment member (38) is provided in the recessed central region (58) of the top surface (50) with the center axis (34) extending through the attachment member (38) and at least part of the central region (58) surrounding the attachment member (38).

    • The invention refers to a backing pad (2) for a hand-guided polishing or sanding power tool, comprising a support layer (4) made of a rigid material, the support layer (4) comprising a connection element (6) on its top surface (8) for connection of the backing pad (2) to a driving shaft (18) or an eccentric element of the polishing or sanding power tool, a damping layer (10) made of a resilient material, the damping layer (10) being fixedly attached to a bottom surface (12) of the support layer (4), and an adhesive layer (14) for releasable attachment of a polishing or sanding member to the backing pad (2), the adhesive layer (14) being fixedly attached to a bottom surface (16) of the damping layer (10) It is suggested that the bottom surface (12) of the support layer (4) is provided with reinforcement elements (24, 26, 28; 46; 50, 52) for enhancing flexural rigidity of the support layer (4), and the bottom surface (12) of the support layer (4) is further provided with recesses (30) formed between and at least partially limited by the reinforcement elements (24, 26, 28; 46; 50, 52), wherein during manufacture of the backing pad (2) the resilient material of the damping layer (10) enters into the recesses (30) and after curing of the resilient material entirely fills the recesses (30).

    • The invention refers to power tool (10) comprising a tool housing (12), a motor (24) located therein and a tool shaft (36) with a rotational axis (40) and actuated by the motor (24) when in operation. A distal end of the tool shaft (36) is accessible from outside the tool housing (12). The power tool (10) further comprises a polishing pad (38) releasably attachable to the distal end of the tool shaft (36) from outside the tool housing (12) in an axial direction parallel to the rotational axis (40) and, after attachment to the tool shaft (36), held in respect to the tool shaft (36) in the axial direction by means of an axial holding arrangement (80). The axial holding arrangement (80) comprises a first element (36; 38) constituted by the polishing pad (38) or the tool shaft (36) and a second element (38; 36) constituted by the other one of the tool shaft (36) or the polishing pad (38), and at least one locking element (70) held in the first element (36; 38) movably in a radial direction between a retracted position and a locking position, at least one radially extending recess (76) provided in the second element (38; 36) and configured to receive part of the at least one locking element (70) when in its locking position. The locking elements (70) and the second element (38; 36) in and/or around the at least one radial recess (76) are made of a magnetic or ferromagnetic material so that the locking elements (70) are automatically held in their locking positions and in the at least one radial recess (76) by magnetic force.

    • The invention refers to hand-held power tool (10) comprising a tool housing (12), a motor (24) and a tool shaft (36) having a rotational axis (40) and actuated by the motor (24), and further comprising a working element (38) releasably attachable to the tool shaft (36) from outside the tool housing (12) in an axial direction and, after attachment to the tool shaft (36), held in respect to the tool shaft (36) by means of an axial holding arrangement (80).
