    • A hearing instrument comprises an openable cover lid, the cover lid comprising at least one electrical input element and at least one lid contact terminal arranged to physically and electrically contact at least one corresponding device contact terminal when the lid is in a closed position. The cover lid further comprises at least two electrical input, each of the at least two input elements being functionally associated with the impedance between the lid contact terminal and a further terminal, and the hearing instrument comprises means to infer the state of the input elements from said impedance. In a preferred embodiment, the number of input elements is equal to or larger than the number of lid contact terminals. In a further embodiment, the lid is the lid of a battery compartment of the hearing instrument, and in a closed position of the lid at least one of the input elements is in electrical contact with one of the terminals of a battery lying in the battery compartment.

    • A hearing system is described comprising a hearing device with a signal processing unit and at least one analogue control element (5) with a selector (6) with a delimited selecting range for selecting at least one particular setting of the hearing system. Each setting controls one or multiple parameters of the hearing device (1), and the analogue control element (5) is operatively connected to the signal processing unit. Furthermore, the selecting range of the analogue control element (5) is partitioned into discrete segments, each identified by a distinctive identification digit, and at least two successive segments define a section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4), each section is identified by a distinctive section digit; wherein each section (Pos 1, . . . , Pos 4) represents a particular setting of the hearing system.     • The present invention provides a method of adjusting a hearing instrument (1) that is at least partially insertable into an ear canal (2), the hearing instrument (1) comprising at least two microphones (3;4), the method comprising the steps of: estimating the relative microphone location effect for each of the microphones (3;4); estimating the feedback stability for each of the microphones (3;4); determining the optimum proportion and phase of the signals of the microphones (3;4) to be used in an omni-directional mode; and setting the optimum proportion and phase of the signals of the microphones (3;4). Thus, the present invention takes into account the acoustical stability of each of the microphones in order to optimally combine the microphones to achieve an optimal omni-directional performance if desired by the user of the hearing instrument

    • A behind-the-ear hearing aid has a curved, hook-shaped shell that extends along a curved longitudinal axis of the hearing aid and into which are integrated transducers and electronics. A first end of the shell includes an acoustic output device to the ear. The shell defines a compartment located at a second end of the shell. The compartment is adapted to receive a battery, and has a cylinder axis that is substantially coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the hearing aid. The hearing aid includes an attachment module that includes a first portion having an outer cross-sectional contour corresponding to the outer cross-sectional contour of the hearing aid and a second portion having a reduced length of the outer cross-sectional contour, and the module is fitted with a rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery is provided in the first portion and a voltage regulator is provided in the second portion.
