摘要： When a monochromatic copy mode is to be executed, a control section sets a read mode in a scanner section so as to enable the scanner section to read an image at high speed by means of only a line sensor K, sets in an image processing section an image process that can print monochromatic image information, which is sent from the scanner section, with a single black color in the printer section, and sets in the printer section a monochromatic print mode that can print a black image at high speed, thereby controlling a monochromatic copy operation.

摘要： A copier when its automatic detecting function has determined that it is possible to combine multiple documents, combines the multiple documents into a composite image and copies the image on an output sheet in continuously copying documents of different sizes using an automatic document feeder. The copier detects based on the document size, the reduction rate of the document and the size of an image bearing member whether or not it is possible to combine the reduced images of the following and later documents and copy the resulting image, and contains an image memory for storing the composite image of the documents. In an image forming apparatus, documents of different sizes are checked one by one according to their document size and reduction rate and continuous copying is done in the form of a composite image. An image forming method contains a step of detecting based on the document size, the reduction rate of the document, and the size of an image bearing member whether or not it is possible to combine the reduced images of the following and later documents and copy the resulting image, with respect to each document, in copying documents of different sizes automatically. This makes it possible to obtain a suitable composite image according to the size of each document.

摘要： In an image processing apparatus using a four-channel output CCD, a deviation in left-and-right CCD characteristics is detected and the deviation is corrected, thereby to reproduce uniform image density free from a density error between left and right portions of a screen with respect to a center of the screen. A gray-scale pattern image is read by a scanner in a gray-scale pattern read-out mode. Deviations in left and right CCD portions are detected for respective gray scales of the gray-scale pattern image. In accordance with the magnitude of the deviations, a correction amount is determined. The correction amount is set in a left-and-right correction circuit whereby image density correction is made for each gray scale.
