    • A weft thread monitor for an air weaving loom with air jets for inserting weft thread yarns of different qualities such as coarse, fine, thick or thin yarns into the loom shed, has an amplifier or comparator controlled in response to control signals which represent the different yarn qualities for providing a loom control signal which is substantially independent of these yarn qualities. The different quality yarns are pulled off from thread storage spools. The air jets of the main nozzles and of relay nozzles are controlled by an air jet insertion control forming part of a central processing unit. The weft thread monitor with its monitoring or sensor element or elements is arranged at the exit side of the air channel formed by profiled reed teeth of the air jet loom. The output of the sensor element is connected to the input of the amplifier or comparator. A uniform output signal from the amplifier or comparator is assured for all types of weft threads regardless of the yarn specific quality, by controlling the amplifier gain or the comparator threshold, for compensation in response to these yarn qualities. Thus, a very thin smooth yarn or a very thick, corase yarn will yield the same resulting output signal.

To avoid the formation of reduced pressure, the expander is equipped with at least one air blower nozzle for introducing pressurized air into the space enclosed by the tubular fabric. The air blower nozzle is movable toward and away from the tubular fabric and preferably can stretch the fabric slightly to improve the passage of air through the fabric, which is sufficient permeable to pressurized air.

    • Flat structural components such as sheetrock panels are dried sequentially by two different drying methods and devices. The first drying is performed as a convection drying, whereby surface layers of the panels are dried. The second drying is performed by a high frequency drying, whereby a still moist central core layer is dried down to a desired remainder moisture content. During the second drying by a high frequency generator, the moisture is driven out by diffusion, whereby any over-drying of outer surface layers is reversed again so that any over-drying, or rather damages that may be caused by dehydration of the gypsum in the sheetrock panels is repaired again since the outwardly diffusion moisture enables the gypsum to cure and set again.

    • To introduce weft threads (31) or picks of finite length into a storage shuttle (1), the shuttle is formed with a longitudinal recess (4) which is divided into two chambers (11, 12) by a longitudinally extending separating wall (8) leaving a gap (10) between the bottom edge of the separating wall and the bottom wall (6) of the recess (4). A weft thread injector (2) is positioned to engage into the first chamber (11) to pneumatically inject the weft thread into the first chamber, to be retained in undulating or zig-zag pattern in the first chamber. Air is deflected by 180.degree. around the gap (10) and exhausted at an exhaust opening (14) leading from the second chamber (12). Preferably, a thread brake (19) is located at the trailing end of the shuttle, in the direction of relative movement between the shuttle and the injector to clamp the end of the injected weft thread.
