A spring wire coil (20) holds the members (14,16) tightly about the object, one coil end affixed to one of the members and the other coil end is held by a pair of link wire loops (82,86) of the controller (24) which is also removably secured to one of the members (14,16) by a bolt (36). When it is desired to release the object (18) an electric current is passed through the link wire loops (82,86) of sufficient magnitude to cause the loops to break, releasing the coil (20) to unwind and, in turn, release the object for urged movement.

摘要： An optical signal coupler has a pair of graded index lenses joined at a common face by a semi-reflective film (e.g., dichroic coating). Opposite sides of the lens system are provided with a pair of fibers having their ends at predetermined points such that a light signal applied to either of the fibers has a first part which reflects from the lens coating onto the other fiber on the same side of the lens and a second part which passes through the lens system to exit via one of the remaining fibers at the opposite lens side. The entire lens and four fiber waveguides are formed into a unitary relationship by encapsulation.

摘要： A bare optical fiber is located within the interstice of three cylindrical pins with the fiber end extending outwardly of the contact assembly. The contact is located within an axial opening of a rotatable drum member with the bare optical fiber end extending outwardly. The drum member is interconnected via bearings to an outer rotatable portion of the drum member. A pretensioning clamp is arranged to receive the bare end of the fiber to secure it between clamp heads which applies an axial tension to the bare fiber with respect to the contact. A cutter blade mounted on the rotatable portion of the drum is adjustable to move a knife edge angularly toward the bear fiber to contact the bare fiber at a point closely adjacent the contact pin ends. Rotation of the outer portion of the drum member scores the fiber, as desired.

摘要： An aircraft altimeter-encoder is provided with an altitude sensitive barometric or aneroid bellows which simultaneously drives a visual altitude indicator and an altitude digital encoder. The indicator includes one or more pointers that register with a dial. The encoder includes a wheel or disc having a series of transparent and opaque regions scanned by photo-optical means. This generates digital signals corresponding to the altitude indicated on the face of the altimeter. The digital signals are adapted to be fed to a transponder for telemetering to a ground station. The altimeter-encoder includes means for simultaneously adjusting both the indicator and the encoder disc to compensate for variations in the local or ambient barometric pressure. Means are also provided for adjusting the relationship between the indicator and the encoder disc whereby the digital altitude signals coupled to the transponder correspond exactly to the altitude indicated on the face of the altimeter, referenced to 29.92 in Hg barometric pressure.
