摘要： A combined two (stereo) and four (quadraphonic) channel tape recorder is disclosed which can use both two and four channel eight track magnetic tape cartridges. The tape recorder includes a head positioning rotary body having four fixed rotary positions and a selection means for selecting two of these four fixed rotary positions when four channel (quadraphonic) operation is desired. The selection means comprises a rotary switch rotated in association with the rotation of the head positioning rotary body and an additional switch connected in series with the rotary switch and actuated by each rotation of the rotary body. Thus a single tape recorder capable of playing stereophonic and quadraphonic magnetic tape cartridges has been provided.

摘要： A retention device for a cassette tape recorder comprises a cassette holder, a platform, a movable plate, a slide plate and a retention lever. The cassette holder is adapted to receive a tape cassette and is movable vertically so that the tape cassette may be engaged and disengaged with the tape drive means. The platform supports magnetic transducer heads and a pinch roller and is slidable so as to cause the heads and pinch roller to come into engagement with the magnetic tape in the cassette. The movable plate is moved with the platform, when it is moved to engage the heads with the tape in the cassette.The slide plate is slidably mounted on the movable plate, and a tension spring interconnects them; so that the slide plate is moved with the movable plate. The range of the movement of the slide plate is limited to be less than that of the movable plate. The retention lever is pivotally secured at one end on the slide plate, and a mid-point of the lever passes through a hole in the rear portion of the base of the cassette holder so that the other end of the lever may be rotated with respect to the holder. With the movement of the platform, the movable plate, and consequently the slide plate, the retention lever rotates to press the tape cassette firmly against the transducer heads and pinch roller.

摘要： The function control levers of a magnetic tape recorder are selectively locked into place by a locking lever which is movable transversely to the direction of movement of the control levers. A stop lever which moves in parallel to the direction of movement of the other function control levers includes a cam engaging projection thereon for engaging a cam surface on the locking lever to effect release of the locking lever from a previously locked control lever to stop the operation of the tape recorder with which the apparatus is employed. A pivoted cam is mounted on the stop lever and whenever a function control lever is locked into place, the pivoted end is pushed out of engagement with a cartridge ejection lever by a projection on the locking lever. When the locking lever releases, the cam is placed in position to engage the cartridge ejection lever; so that a second depression of the stop function lever operates through the cam to eject a cartridge or cassette in the recorder.

摘要： A two-four channel tape player including circuitry for switching the mode of operation thereof in accordance with a cartridge received in the player includes four amplifier circuits, each coupled to a magnetic pick-up of a four channel magnetic tape head and to a corresponding speaker. Each amplifier circuit is coupled to a rotary switch through a two-four channel mode selecting switch. The rotary switch is rotatable and operable to two conditions in response to the rotation of a tape head indexing cam of the player. First diodes coupled to the amplifier circuits are forward biased to couple the last-mentioned amplifier circuits to respective speakers upon insertion of a four channel cartridge into the player. For a two channel cartridge, only two of the four pick-ups of the tape head and corresponding amplifier circuits are employed. The amplifier output of a first one of the operational channels is reproduced at a first pair of speakers and the amplified output of the second operational channel is reproduced at the other pair of speakers. Second diodes coupled between the rotary switch wiper and the inputs to the first diodes are provided. Pairs of the second diodes selected in accordance with the position of the rotary switch wiper, are reverse biased to block signals from respective amplifier circuits.
