    • A first embodiment of the security apparatus comprises a retaining collar; a plurality of segments forming a generally frusta-conical enclosure, with one or more of the segments having an access opening therein; and a lockable access door covering the opening. The retaining collar is separable into portions that conforms to the shape of the periphery and are coupled together around the structure. The segments have an upper portion that attaches to the collar; and have a bottom portion that extends radically downwardly from the collar at an angle of about 30 degree; with the radial edges interconnected forming the enclosure.A second embodiment of the apparatus secures a ladder supported on a wall and a retaining bar; a plurality of segments forming a generally semi-frusta-conical enclosure, with one or more of the segments having an access opening therein, and a lockable access door covering the opening.

    • A ladderway system for an underground raise includes an elongate tube adapted to generally conform to the shape of the raise. The tube is of circular cross-section to generally conform to the shape of a round bored raise. The tube is formed with a longitudinal slit along its entire length, whereby the diameter of the tube can be adjusted to generally conform to the shape of the raise. The ladderway system further includes a ladder adapted to be mechanically coupled to an interior of the tube. The tube manufactured of a sufficiently rigid and strong plastics material, such as polyurethane, so that it acts as a surface membrane or liner within the raise.

    • A trench shield ladder that hangs on the wall of the trench shield to provide workmen safe access to a trench. The ladder is provided with a top platform and hand rails that extend over the platform. The ladder can be adjusted in length by employing an extension portion with hooks that hang the extension on the main rungs of the main ladder. The extension portion is not as wide as the main portion of the ladder so that the legs of the extension rest between the legs of the main portion of the ladder. The ladder and extension are provided with stand off arms that hold the main and extension rungs of the ladder away from the wall of the trench shield. The present invention is designed to fit on trench shields of varying thicknesses.

    • A bin ladder construction includes a vertical ladder up the side of a grain storage bin and an inclined ladder from the upper end of the vertical ladder to the peak of the roof of the grain storage bin. Corner pieces of particular shape and configuration interconnect the inclined and vertical ladders. The ladders have hollow rungs open at both ends, and channel members extend through and beyond the ends of a pair of hollow rungs in the vertical ladder and in the inclined ladder. Triangular brackets mount the opposite ends of hand rails to the ends of said channels.

    • A stair or ladder which has a central stringer adapted for mounting between an upper level and a lower level at a relatively steep angle of inclination, and a plurality of tread members disposed in alternating arrangement on respective sides of the stringer, each of the tread members having a foot support portion outwardly extending from the stringer. A pair of handrails is disposed substantially in a plane forward and parallel to a plane passing through the front edges of the foot support portions and positioned with respect to the foot support portions to provide support of the user. The tread members are substantially identical, except for the top tread and bottom tread of the stairway and include a foot support portion and an outwardly extending support adapted for connection to a rail. The stairway is preferably composed of components preformed of aluminum and welded together to provide a completed structure which is relatively light weight, rigid, and strong.
