摘要： A display apparatus and a display method thereof are provided. The display apparatus includes a display panel, a timing controller, a data driving unit and an extending driving unit. The display includes a plurality of first pixels disposed in a frame display region and a plurality of second pixels disposed in an extending display region, where the extending display region surrounds the frame display region. The timing controller outputs a plurality of display data corresponding to a display frame. The data driving unit outputs a plurality of first signals to the first pixels according to the display data. The extending driving unit obtains a display reference data corresponding to the display frame through the data driving unit, and provides a second driving signal to the second pixels according to the display reference data so as to determine the display effect of the second pixels.

摘要： In conventional liquid crystal display controllers, the display is reduced in the stand-by state but the liquid crystal display duty is not changed, i.e., even the common electrodes of the rows that are not producing display are scanned, and the consumption of electric power is not decreased to a sufficient degree in the stand-by state. A liquid crystal display controller includes a drive duty selection register capable of being rewritten by a microprocessor, and a drive bias selection register. When the display is changed from the whole display on a liquid crystal display panel to a partial display on part of the rows only, the preset values of the drive duty selection register and of the drive bias selection register are changed, so that the display is selectively produced on a portion of the liquid crystal display panel at a low voltage with a low-duty drive.

摘要： We describe a method of displaying a document page with a predetermined size using a display device having edges defining lateral dimensions not substantially larger than said predetermined size and having a central re-writable display portion and a non-re-writable border, said document page comprising a central, foreground portion bearing one or both of text and graphics, a background having a background color and at least one margin having said background color, the method comprising: inputting page data defining a page for display; processing said page data to crop margins of said page such that, when displayed on said re-writable display portion, said non-re-writable border gives the appearance of said cropped margins, said processing generating cropped page data; and outputting said cropped page data for display on said re-writable display portion of said display.

A backlight unit 12 includes LEDs 17, a chassis 14 having a bottom plate 14a and housing the LEDs 17, and an LED drive controller 24 controlling drive of the LEDs 17. The LEDs 17 are arranged in a matrix in row and column directions (X-axis direction and Y-axis direction) along the bottom plate 14a, forming respective LED groups 25 each along the row direction. The LED groups 25 include a middle LED group 28 and an end side LED group 29. The middle LED group 28 is located in a middle portion of the bottom plate 14a in the column direction group and the end side LED group 29 is located closer to an end of the bottom part from the middle portion group. The LED drive controller 24 controls light of at least one of the middle LED group 28 and the end side LED group 29 such that the end side LED group 29 has relatively high brightness and the middle LED group 28 has relatively low brightness.
