Those value documents upon whose check an error has occurred are transported to a deposit device having several deposit sections. For post-processing of the faulty value documents, they are removed from the deposit device by an operator according to the first in, first out principle.

In one example of the tracing system, an automatic teller machine (ATM) electronically connected to one or more devices is provided. The one or more devices comprise a deposit device configured to receive an initial bank note; an image extraction device configured to extract one or more initial images from the initial bank note; a transaction log device configured to attach a transaction log to the one or more initial images, wherein the deposit device is further configured to receive a subsequent bank note, wherein the image extraction device is further configured to extract one or more subsequent images from the subsequent bank note; and a comparison device configured to compare the one or initial images to the one or more subsequent images in order to obtain a comparison result.

A transport mechanism receives the documents from the input receptacle and transports the documents past a full image scanner and a discrimination unit. An output receptacle receives the documents from the transport mechanism after being transported past the full image scanner and the discrimination unit. The full image scanner includes means for obtaining a full video image of said documents, means for obtaining a image of a selected area of said documents, and means for obtaining information contained in said selected area of said document. The discrimination unit includes means for determining the authenticity of said document. A system controller directs the flows of documents over the transport mechanism.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for testing the authenticity of documents, in particular bank notes, documents of value or security documents, by authenticity criteria. To increase the reliability of authenticity testing of documents, at least two different authenticity classes each with one or more authenticity criteria are provided, the individual authenticity classes differing in at least one authenticity criterion. An authenticity class is selected from the different authenticity classes and the document tested by the authenticity criteria of the selected authenticity class. The document is assigned the selected authenticity class if the document meets the authenticity criteria thereof. This obtains higher reliability of authenticity testing since this method makes it possible to determine those documents that meet higher authenticity requirements, i.e. stricter authenticity criteria, than the other documents and are therefore authentic with higher probability.

Then, such stacked batches of the paper sheets are handled, collectively, by a paper sheet handling system. Thereafter, each recognition result on the plurality of batches of the paper sheets, respectively handled by the paper sheet handling system, is separated by utilizing each designated paper sheet. As such, information on the association between each recognition result on the paper sheets and the transaction information can be obtained.

摘要： An automated banking machine (10) identifies and stores documents such as currency bills deposited by a user. The machine then selectively recovers documents from storage and dispenses them to other users. The machine includes a central transport (70) wherein documents deposited in a stack are unstacked, oriented, and identified. Such documents are then routed to storage areas in recycling canisters (92, 94, 96, 98). When a user subsequently requests a dispense, documents stored in the storage areas are selectively picked therefrom and delivered to the user through an input/output area (50) of the machine. The control system (30) for the machine includes a terminal processor (548). Identification devices identify the type and character of a document, and distinguish genuine documents, such as genuine currency bills, from unidentifiable or suspect documents.
