    • In a seat back with movable headrest, a pressure receiving element is movably provided, which includes pressure receiving regions for receiving loads applied from lumber and dorsal parts of seat occupant. The pressure receiving element is movably connected with a crank member which is movably provided between two lateral frame members of seat back frame. Further, that pressure receiving element is connected with a support shaft extended between a par of rotating links rotatably arranged on the respective afore-said two lateral frame members. A biasing element is provided to normally bias the headrest to a home position.

    • The invention relates to a removable suspended device wich serves as both a head rest and a head restraint for the passenger of a vehicle. The invention is essentially characterised in that the device is suspended in space such that it can move without any direct contact being established between the supporting area and the seat, thereby maintaining the vertical position of both the head and the neck. The preferred embodiment of the invention includes a rigid suspension element (6) which is generally secured to the highest part (7) of a seat and from which the main body (MB) of the device is suspended. The lower occipital region of the head is supported by the lower area of the main body of the device (2). The head is further restrained by means of a front area (4) restricting forward movement and two vertical side areas restricting side movements. The aim of the invention is to improve a passenger's quality of rest and sleep, to prevent neck discomfort and injury and to provide increased safety in the event of an accident or a sudden vehicle manoeuvre.

    • A vehicle seat for use in military vehicles which provides increased protection to a helmeted or unhelmeted combatant soldier or other person. The vehicle seat includes a seat portion having a layer of high impact energy absorbing material. A back support portion is adjoined to the rear of the seat portion and extends upwardly for supporting the rearward side of the seated soldier. The back portion has a lower section for contacting and supporting the thorax and lower back of the soldier, and two overlying upper sections which are positionable for supporting and restraining rearward movement of the helmeted or unhelmeted head and the neck of the soldier. The overlying sections each has a surface which is moveable toward and away from the seated soldier and together define a supporting means and contour which interacts with the helmeted or unhelmeted seated soldier during rear end impact to maintain the pre-collision shape of the soldier's supported spinal curves, to thereby aid in the avoidance of whiplash and similar injuries. Swivelable side portions actuated by sensors flank the side of the seated person and provide further protection.

While inertia force occurring due to a crash of a vehicle from behind acts on the weight, when the pressure-receiving member rotates upon receipt of a seatback load of a passenger of the vehicle seat, the connecting arm moves along with the rotation of the pressure-receiving member so that the pin of the connecting arm pushes either one of an edge of the rib and a cutout of the rib while entering the cutout, to rotate the swinging member.
