    • A throwaway ball end mill comprising an end mill body and a tip pressed by a clamp screw onto a cutout formed at the forward end of the end mill body. The cutout is formed in a longitudinal direction with respect to the end mill body, and a pair of lateral regions forked by the cutout have opposite flat surfaces, the lateral regions have clamp holes formed in a direction making a right angle with the cutout, one clamp hole has a conical surface extending toward the periphery of the corresponding lateral region, and the other clamp hole has a female thread formed therein,the centerline of the conical surface is deviated from that of the clamp holes toward the base end of the end mill body. When the clamp screw is tightened with the tip inserted in the cutout, the tip is pressed against the end of the cutout accordingly, and at the same time one lateral region is bent toward the other lateral region.

    • An alarm termination apparatus includes: a bi-directionally accessible random access memory for storing alarm bits sampled from a plurality of parallel inputs at memory locations; a flip-flop circuit for temporarily storing a first alarm bit read from one of the memory locations of the memory and for outputting the first alarm bit to an output transmission line; and a selector for receiving a second alarm bit sampled from the parallel inputs and for receiving the stored first alarm bit from the flip-flop circuit, the selector selectively outputting the second alarm bit or the first alarm bit to the above one of the memory locations of the memory in accordance with a value of a select pulse, wherein the temporary storing of the first alarm bit from the memory into the flip-flop circuit and the selective outputting of the first alarm bit or the second alarm bit to the memory by the selector are controlled to sequentially take place.

    • A system for converting an analog video signal obtained by scanning an original image to be processed into a two-valued video signal such as an input portion of a facsimile machine includes a peak/valley extracting circuit for extracting peaks and valleys in the analog video signal before thresholding the analog video signal so as to determine an optimal threshold level to be used in thresholding. The peak/valley extracting circuit includes peak and valley thresholds in addition to the threshold to be used in thresholding the analog video signal to produce a two-valued video signal. The peak/valley extracting circuit is so structured to supply a peak/valley extraction signal if an extracted peak or valley also satisfies the condition that it is equal to or higher or lower in level than the peak or valley threshold.
