    • A method and an apparatus for isolating an area corresponding to a character or word in an optical character recognition device. Original manuscript images are compressed (reduced) in a scanning direction corresponding to the direction of the original manuscript image's line (column), and areas where the black picture elements correpsonding to the compressed original manuscript images are connected with each other are searched by following the contour of the areas of connected black picture elements contained in the compressed images. Then, a minimum coordinate point and a maximum coordinate point are obtained in accordance with the areas determined by searching, and rectangular areas determined by the minimum coordinate point and the maximum coordinate point of the area where the black picture elements are connected with each other are extracted. Finally, each area of the original manuscript images corresponding to the extracted rectangular areas is isolated as an area of image.

    • A method for oscillating ultrasonic waves and a microcomputer's built-in ultrasonic wave oscillator circuitry being capable of tracking and regulating ultrasonic wave vibrations automatically to be oscillated stably at a resonant frequency of a vibrator. An amplified excitation signal, having a necessary oscillating frequency regulated and amplified in accordance with an input adjusting voltage value signal, is output from an operating unit section. A high-frequency wave current value signal, flowing through a vibrator, after the amplified excitation signal is introduced, is issued from a vibration system to a conversion-transmission section. The adjusting voltage value signal and the high-frequency wave current value signal are converted and then transmitted to the operating unit section, and a microcomputer, respectively. The microcomputer monitors changes in the resonant frequency of the vibrator by always detecting a peak high-frequency wave current value signal flowing through the vibrator with a calculating process which that consecutively compares the memorized high-frequency wave current value signal with a new high-frequency wave current value signal coming from the conversion-transmission section. The output is the voltage value signal adjusted by tracking the peak high-frequency wave current value signal, from the microcomputer.

    • The organic electroluminescence element according to the present invention includes: a light-emitting layer; a first electrode layer on a first surface in a thickness direction of the light-emitting layer; a second electrode layer on a second surface in the thickness direction of the light-emitting layer; an electrically conductive layer; and an insulating layer. The light-emitting layer emits light when a predetermined voltage is applied between the first and second electrode layers. The second electrode layer includes an electrode part covering the second surface and an opening part formed in the electrode part to expose the second surface therethrough. The electrically conductive layer allows the light to pass therethrough, and formed on an exposed region of the second surface exposed through the opening part so as to be electrically connected to the electrode part and the light-emitting layer. The insulating layer is interposed between the electrode part and the second surface.
