    • A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, which comprises a support having formed thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the silver halide photographic material contains, in the silver halide emulsion layer, other hydrophilic colloid layer(s), or both, a compound represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein EAG represents an electron accepting group, --SO.sub.2 -- represents a sulfonylene group; X represents an oxygen atom (--O--), a sulfur atom (--S--) or an atomic group (--N(R.sub.2)--) containing a nitrogen atom; the single bond between --SO.sub.2 and X being cleaved after EAG receives an electron, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a simple bond or a group other than a hydrogen atom; said R.sub.1, R.sub.2, EAG may be combined with each other to form a ring; (Time) represents a group capable of releasing a photographically useful group (PUG) upon the cleavage of the SO.sub.2 --X bond; t represents 0 or 1; when said t is 0, (Time) represents a simple bond and X may be a part of PUG; the solid line represents a bond; the dotted lines show that at least one of them is bonded.

    • A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing tabular silver halide grains which have a diameter not less than 5 times the thickness thereof and account for at least 50% of the total projected area of the silver halide grains present in the silver halide emulsion layer and the silver halide photographic material also contains at least one compound represented by following general formulae (I), (II), (III) and (IV): ##STR1## wherein R represents a straight chain, branched chain or cyclic alkylene group, a straight chain or branched chain alkenylene group, a straight chain or branched chain aralkylene group or an arylene group; R.sub.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; Z represents a hydrogen atom or a polar substituent; X represents a hydrogen atom, a cation necessary for neutralizing the molecule or a precursor; and n represents 0 or 1.The silver halide photographic material has improved image sharpness not only at high spatial frequencies but also at low spatial frequencies.

    • In the presence of a novel antifoggant represented by the general formula (I), a silver halide photographic material which has at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on a support is development-processed. The developing solution is one containing both dihydroxybenzenes and 3-pyrazolidones, a developing solution containing both dihydroxybenzenes and aminophenoles, or a developing solution containing a primary aromatic amine developer to suppress markedly fog generation at much reduced sacrifice of sensitivity: ##STR1## wherein M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom, NH.sub.4 or a mercapto group-protecting moiety which can be split-off in the presence of an alkali; n represents 1, 2 or 3; R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or --COOR.sup.2 ; and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom, NH.sub.4, or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group.

    • A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is disclosed. The material is comprised of a support base having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer and a protective layer. The material contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion and inside fogged silver halide emulsion as well as a disulfide compound. The disulfide compound is a compound represented by the general formula (I):A--S--S--B (I)wherein A and B independently represent an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a heterocyclic group or an amino group. The material can form images having high contrast and a high maximum density. Further, the material has high sensitivity to light and can be developed at a low temperature in a reduced amount of time.
