    • In a slide switch of the class comprising three terminal members arranged in the same plane on a casing and a first contact member carried by a slide member whereby the switching of a pair of circuits is effected by moving the slide member so as to cause the first contact member to bridge the center terminal member and either one of the outer terminal members, there are provided a pair of transition terminal members on the casing and a second contact member mounted on the slide member to cooperate with the transition terminal members. The main terminal members, transition terminal members and the first and second contact members are positioned with respect to each other such that the transition terminal members and the second contact member maintain a circuit in a closed state from an instant immediately prior to the disengagement of the first contact member from one of the outer terminal members to an instant immediately after the engagement of the first contact member with the other outer terminal member.

    • An electrical switch has a freely movable magnetic ball contact maintained in a first position out of engagement with at least one of a plurality of stationary electrical contacts by a permanent magnet. The ball contact is movable to a second position wherein it engages all of the contacts in response to magnetic influence exerted thereon by an iron rod carried by a reciprocally movable push button and disposed within a flux path of the magnet. The rod exerts greater magnetic influence on the ball contact than magnet during only an initial portion of push button travel toward a fully depressed position whereby to cause the ball contact to return to its first position in response to magnetic influence of the magnet before the push button reaches its fully depressed position.

    • A contactor is provided having a cylindrical housing containing an axially operable spring biased contacting plunger. A U-shaped contact spring is supported by the plunger and extends longitudinally along the axis of the plunger having laterally disposed contact points near its ends. A contact supporting base is provided having a central opening extending axially within the base for the reception of the contact points. Contact plates are secured to the contact supporting base on opposite sides of the central opening and having contact ribs extending into the central opening for making electrical connection with the contact points. At least one of the contact plates can be selectively secured to the contact supporting base in one position or another for effecting circuit closures at respectively different operating positions of the plunger.

    • The housing of an electrical device has connector sockets on one side and connector plugs on the opposite side. The housing comprises a backplate and a front plate each made of molded plastic material. The backplate has integral ledge members. The front plate, which is preferably transparent, to reveal the interior, is placed on top of the ledge members and has integrally formed tubular and full-bodied rivets which pass through the ledge members and have their ends secured in corresponding recesses on the backface of the backplate. The ledge members surround a switching chamber within the housing. A switching bridge is movable in the chamber between two switching positions and is engageable with fixed contacts depending upon the position occupied at a time. The fixed contacts comprise sheet-metal strips each having a curved shape at three localities along its length, the end of each strip extending through the ledge members to the outside of the housing so as to form one of the connector plugs of the device. Terminal screws are in threaded engagement with corresponding strips in the housing, but are accessible from the outside. A spring-biased tappet is longitudinally displaceable between the connector plugs and in parallel relation thereto for actuating the switching bridge. The tappet extends to the outside of the housing when the bridge is in one of its limit positions, so that the tappet can then be actuated directly or by engagement with the tappet of an analogously designed device. Two or more such devices can be plugged together to form a desired switching or connection arrangement.
