    • A keyboard includes a circuit board on which a silo is formed. A pushbutton structure includes a cap from which a post extends. The post is movably received in the silo whereby the cap is movable between a released position and an actuated position. The keyboard includes a resilient cone supporting the post at the released position. When the pushbutton is depressed, the cap moves from the released position to the actuated position where the post deforms the cone to trigger a contact switch of the circuit board and generate a signal indicating the depression. Two resilient slide tabs are formed on opposite sides of the post and each slide tab has an inclined surface for resiliency-biased engagement with an inside surface of the silo to ensure stable and sound movement of the cap with respect to the silo. A stop bar is mounted to the post by two fingers on opposite sides of each slide tab. The stop bar is selectively engageable with an internal shoulder of the silo to retain the cap at the released position. The stop bar and the corresponding slide tab are formed on the same side of the post bar, whereby overall size of the post is reduced and manufacturing costs are lowered.

    • A keyboard input device for printers, composing apparatus, or clear text display devices which employ type fonts that can be changed at will, has a group of multiple indicia bearing keys which can be positioned to bring a different set of indicia to a readable position to indicate to the operator the character make-up of the type font being used. Both manual and electrical mechanisms are provided to effect indicia positioning. Mechanism is also provided to interconnect indicia selection with either manual or automatic type font selection and changing. Each key operates an electrical switch which is connected to a diode matrix to provide coded output to the device under control.

    • A push-button switch device for keyboards is provided with a multiple keyboard spanning several keys of the keyboard carrier plate and a support arrangement such that operation of the keybutton is balanced even though the key-button switch may be positioned asymmetrically with respect to the multiple button. The support arrangement includes a U-shaped guide bracket which is pivotally fastened on one side in the keybutton and on the other side over the carrier plate. A guide portion is positioned in a carrier plate recess adjacent to the key housing for the push-button switch and has the same shape as the key housing, enabling the guide portion to possibly be replaced by an actual key housing to rearrange the keybutton line-up in the keyboard. The end of the guide bracket adjacent the carrier plate is connected to a support piece which is slidably supported over the upper surface of the guide portion. A guide tongue extends beneath the keybutton through a guide aperture formed in the guide portion. This arrangement serves to align movement of the keybutton during activation of the push-button switch so that jamming of the push-button switch in a multiple button arrangement is prevented.

    • A plastic molding, such as a key top with signs or letters appearing on its face has a first part molding having projections formed at its top defining an enclosed area. A second part molding of a color other than that of the first part molding is adhered to the surface of the first part molding in a manner permitting the ends of the projections to be exposed. The first part molding has a plurality of through holes formed in mesh configuration. At least one of the projections corresponds to at least one of the through holes. The second part molding is adhered to the first part molding to be buried in the plastic material of the second part molding. Part of the plastic material of the first part molding is filled into the enclosed area via the through holes. In a method of making such plastic molding, an inner member of the mold die may be used commonly regardless of the sign or letter provided in the plastic molding.
