    • An improved locking member for the housing of an electric switching apparatus including a contact plate having a threaded aperture, and a screw-type electrical contact disposed in the aperture. The housing has an elongated slit disposed therein transverse to the direction of insertion of the contact plate into the housing which opens into the interior thereof adjacent the plate and the contact. The locking member is inserted through the slit into the housing for securing the contact plate therein. The improvement of the invention comprises the locking member comprising a planar sheet member having a recess disposed therein and a projection member integrally formed with the sheet member extending into the recess in the plane of the sheet member from one side thereof. The projection member is supported in the housing below the aperture in the contact plate so that it is engaged by the screw contact during insertion thereof into the contact plate and is bent downwardly from the plane of the sheet member below the housing slit. Withdrawal of the sheet member from the slit and the housing is thereby prevented.

    • The connector disclosed includes a body having a groove in which an electrical cable can be positioned. Electrical contacts are positioned in the groove with each contact having a sharp end for penetrating the insulation of the cable and engaging the electrical conductors of the cable. A movable cable clamping member is pivotally attached to the body to move the cable against the contacts to cause the contacts to penetrate the cable insulation and make electrical contact with the conductors. A cam arm is pivotally mounted on the body to move the clamping member. The arm has a cam surface in engagement with the clamping member that forces the member to force the cable into electrical contact with the contacts carried by the base member. When the cam arm has so moved the movable member, it is in an "over-the-center" position, which locks the clamping member in position holding the cable against the contacts and in the groove on the body.

    • A contact for electrical component leads is formed by first stamping an outline design from a sheet of relatively thin metal stock. The stamped piece is then bent and folded in four substantially right angle bends about the longitudinal axis of the contact. The folded contact is generally rectangular in cross-section with planar side walls including a four-sided open top lead-receiving socket portion, a four-sided press-fitting central portion and a three-sided tail portion generally square in cross-section.     • A solderless electrically insulated connector has an insulating body including a base portion and a cover portion. The cover portion includes a depressible member and a resilient metal contact element fixedly retained therein for movement with respect thereto. The base portion is longitudinally grooved to accept insulated electrically conductive wires therein. Both the base portion and the cover portion are provided with a first locking means for locking the base and cover portions together. During installation, movement of the depressible member causes the contact element to be forced into the base portion thereby causing the resilient metal contact element to make a common electrically conductive contact with each of the wires inserted therein. The contact element is retained in its depressed position by tangs provided thereon thereby providing a second locking means between the cover and base portions.

    • A terminal clamp for electrical conductors has a cylindrical clamping member which can be rotated in a clamping frame to clamp the conductor. The conductor is inserted into a conductor insertion opening disposed beyond the cylindrical surface of the clamping member. The opening extends in the longitudinal direction of the clamping member. The clamping surfaces of the cylindrical clamping member are eccentrically arranged in such a manner that they protrude beyond the cylinder surface of the clamping member and clamp a conductor inserted into the conductor opening against the clamping frame when the clamping member is rotated. The tool which is used to rotate the clamping member is then positioned in a direction parallel to the direction in which the conductor is inserted.
