    • A pulse sensor clip includes a body member composed of a conductive plastic. The body member includes a pair of parallel ears defining a keyhole-shaped channel therebetween for clipping onto an ignition cable. The distal end of a sensor cable extending from an engine time log is coated with a conductive adhesive, and inserted into a cable-mounting hole on the body member. A pin hole intersecting the cable-mounting hole extends between the cable-mounting hole and an exterior surface of the body member. A retaining pin is positioned in the pin hole, and driven into the sensor cable to secure it. A security wire lock can be installed through a pair of security holes on the ears to resist unauthorized removal of the sensor clip from the ignition cable.

    • An ignition apparatus for internal combustion engine capable of easily and securely sensing an ignition state based on the voltage level of an ignition signal to a power transistor includes ignition coils 13 each serving an ignition power unit 1 of the internal combustion engine, the power transistor 14 for feeding and shutting off a primary current i1 to and from the ignition coil, an ignition sensing circuit 5 for confirming that the primary current is normally fed and shut off, and a control circuit 4 including a CPU 41 for controlling fuel injection to each cylinder based on operating state signals D from various sensors 3 and outputting an ignition signal G by calculating a primary current feed time and an ignition timing of the internal combustion engine. The ignition sensing circuit includes a comparator 52 for comparing the voltage level of the ignition signal with a reference voltage level VR corresponding to a target current value of the primary current and outputs an ignition sensing signal Gd when the voltage level reaches the reference voltage level.

    • An ignition adapter for DIS four stroke engines provides conventional voltage waveforms for a diagnostic oscilloscope. Spark plug leads from a DIS four stroke engine are grouped together depending on their respective firing polarity. A first signal pickup is placed around the spark plug leads from the spark plugs of one signal polarity, for example a positive signal polarity, and a second signal pickup is placed around the spark plug leads from the spark plugs of opposite polarity, for example a negative signal polarity. A trigger pickup is placed around the #1 cylinder spark plug lead. The voltage waveforms received in the signal pickups are applied to the ignition adapter, summed and displayed on the oscilloscope as a conventional voltage waveform. The polarity of the waveform can be reversed using a polarity switch. The waveform received in the trigger pickup is applied to the ignition adapter and compared to a reference voltage. When the waveform exceeds the reference voltage, a voltage pulse is applied to the oscilloscope as a trigger pulse. The ignition adapter includes a trigger adjust that can be set to trigger the oscilloscope on the higher voltage levels present during the compression stroke of the DIS four stroke engine, thereby to emulate a conventional voltage waveform.
