The first metallic material layer forms the heat exposed side and the second metallic layer forms the shielded side of the insulator. Alternatively, additional layers may be provided, for example, a third foil layer adjacent the fibrous material layer and a second fibrous layer between the third metal foil layer and the first metal foil layer.

Next, a second layer of similar enclosing material is selected and configured so as to having a matching peripheral edge or contour with the first layer. Ultimately these two layers of enclosing material are joined together around their peripheral edges so as to define and completely enclose an interior cavity. Into this interior cavity a blanket of insulating material is dispersed of a generally uniform blanket thickness. In certain applications, the insulating material includes a binder so that the insulating material will not shift or settle relative to the enclosed cavity. The particular insulating material may either be selected for acoustical insulation, vibration dampening and/or thermal insulation. A singular purpose of the insulating material may be desired or multiple uses may be desired in which case part of the enclosed cavity may include acoustical insulation and part of the enclosed cavity may include vibration-dampening material.

摘要： A free-standing modular space enclosure for achieving desired levels of noise abatement, particularly in manufacturing facilities, by acoustically isolating separate units of noiseproducing industrial machinery and apparatus, while at the same time providing ready access to any part or portion of the isolated equipment or machinery by removal of any adjacent detachable panel of the noise enclosure. Such access is desirable and necessary for repair, maintenance, regulation and inspection of the machinery or apparatus so isolated. The enclosure comprises a four-sided structure, the walls of which are assembled from a plurality of modular panels which are acoustically isolated from each other and from the skeletal framework although detachably sealed at their common joints or areas of engagement with each other. In addition to the side walls, the enclosure is provided with a roof also assembled from a plurality of modular panels and acoustically isolated from the wall panels and from the skeletal framework although engaged therewith. Any of the standard modular panels may be replaced, if desired, with special panels having specified features or characteristics such as, doors, windows, feed-through systems, service boxes, and the like.

摘要： The invention relates to an uncured thermal and/or sound insulation product, based on mineral wool, advantageously on glass wool, that is in the form of a ply comprising a mineral wool layer sized by at least one binder, said sized layer having: a surface density, or basis weight, of less than or equal to 350 g/m2, preferably less than or equal to 300 g/m2, or less than or equal to 250 g/m2, and, optionally, greater than or equal to 200 g/m2, a micronaire of at most 3 under 5 grams, preferably of at most 15 l/min, better still of at most 12 l/min, and of at least 9 l/min, and the ply having a thickness of greater than 10 mm, or greater than or equal to 15 mm, or even greater than or equal to 25 mm. The invention makes it possible to propose a thermal and/or sound insulation product that is lighter while retaining satisfactory thermal and/or sound insulation properties and a good mechanical strength.
