The method includes: (a) providing a metallic substrate; (b) applying a foundation coat over the metallic substrate; (c) applying a basecoat over the foundation coat; (d) applying a clearcoat over the basecoat; and (e) heating the metallic substrate, the foundation coat, the basecoat, and the clearcoat simultaneously in order to cure the foundation coat, the basecoat, and the clearcoat. The foundation coat is inherently UV stable and is configured to protect the vehicle body against corrosion, and bonds the metallic substrate to the basecoat and the clearcoat. A vehicle body includes a metallic substrate, a foundation coat bonded to the metallic substrate, a basecoat disposed over the foundation coat, and a clearcoat disposed over the basecoat.

摘要： The invention provides a hot dip galvanized steel sheet which has: a hot dip galvanizing layer having a flat part on a surface thereof; and a film formed on the flat part. The film is composed of a compound containing Zn, Fe, and O, having an average film thickness A in a range from 10 to 100 nm determined by an element analysis of the film, and has {[Fe]/([Zn]+[Fe])} in the film in a range from 0.002 to 0.25, where [Zn] and [Fe] designate the content (% by atom) of Zn and Fe in the film, respectively. Since the hot dip galvanized steel sheet of the invention has excellent press-formability, bondability, and phosphatability, it is suitable for automobiles and electrical appliances.

摘要： A manufacturing method for steel sheets for containers produces steel sheets with excellent film adhesion qualities. This steel sheet for containers has, on a steel sheet, a chemical conversion coating with a metal Zr content of 1-100 mg/m2, a P content of 0.1-50 mg/m2, and an F content of no more than 0.1 mg/m2, upon which is formed a phenolic resin layer with a C content of 0.1-50 mg/m2. Moreover, the manufacturing method for steel sheets for containers is a method for obtaining the steel sheet for containers wherein the chemical conversion coating is formed on the steel sheet by subjecting the steel sheet to immersion in or electrolytic treatment with a treatment solution containing Zr ions, phosphoric acid ions, and F ions; and subsequently, the steel sheet upon which the chemical conversion coating has been formed is immersed in, or undergoes topical application of, an aqueous solution containing phenolic resin, then dried.

摘要： A method for creating an oxide coating on the surface of a component formed from austenitic stainless steel or nickel alloy steel is set forth. The component has a naturally formed oxide film at the surface. The naturally formed oxide is enhanced through a process comprising at least two steps. In the first step, the component is heated in the presence of circulating dry air for a first period of time at a temperature of approximately 300 degrees centigrade. In the second step, the component is heated in the presence of static dry air at an elevated pressure for a second period of time at a temperature that is higher than the temperature during the first period. The exterior portion of the enhanced oxide coating is removed with an oxidizing treatment whereby an oxide coating having a high ratio of chromium to iron is exposed at the surface of the stainless steel.

摘要： An aqueous liquid chromate free primary composition for forming a protective coating on metals, particularly aluminum, is made by reacting cobalt(II) cations, carboxylate anions, at least one other type of coordinate complexing agent for cobalt(III) cations, and an oxidizing agent in an aqueous solution in which the molar ratio of carboxylate anions to cobalt(II) cations is from 0.10 to 6.8 and the aqueous solution contains no more than 1% of each of ammonia, ammonium ions, and nitrite ions. The primary layer formed by this or any other composition that forms a coating containing metal atoms and oxygen atoms on a metal substrate is advantageously sealed by further treatment with an aqueous solution of sodium ammonium decavanadate, optionally after an intermediate step of immersing in water for a few minutes between the primary treatment and the sealing treatment.
