摘要： A method of paving a roadway that includes a first lane and a second lane adjacent the first lane includes applying, a first asphalt layer over the first lane of the roadway. The first asphalt layer includes a first side edge defining a portion of a joint between the first asphalt layer and a second asphalt layer. The method also includes smoothing the first asphalt layer on the first lane of the roadway, applying an additive on the first side edge to soften the first side edge, and applying the second asphalt layer over the second lane of the roadway. The second asphalt layer includes a second side edge abutting the first side edge such that the second side edge mixes with the first side edge. The first side edge and the second side edge form the joint between the first asphalt layer and the second asphalt layer.

摘要： Methods are provided for upgrading the quality of an asphalt containing wax. This can include base asphalts that naturally contain elevated levels of wax, such as base asphalts with a wax content of at least 3.0 wt %. Additionally or alternately, this can include a base asphalt containing subsequently added wax. Wax generated at a refinery can be added to an asphalt along with a pour point depressant to form an asphalt product. The additional wax can reduce the viscosity of the asphalt product at higher temperatures so that the asphalt product can be mixed and stored at a tower temperature. Additionally, the pour point depressant can unexpectedly improve the low temperature properties of the wax-containing asphalt product.

摘要： It is an additive that modifies the Theological properties of asphalt under warm conditions, and makes it possible to mix and compact asphalt mixtures with a reduction in temperature of up to 35° C., which is constituted by wax, an adhesion-improving additive and a fluxing agent, which reduces asphalt oxidation, causing it to be less-aged and more resistant to fatigue, reduces the interfacial tension between the aggregate and the asphalt, increases adhesion between them, making the mixture resistant to the damages caused by humidity, increases resistance to permanent deformation, causes gas emissions to be reduced and leads to savings in fuel consumption. The additive according to the invention has the following effects:—At high temperatures (between 100° C. and 160° C.), IT REDUCES the asphalt viscosity, as compared to asphalt without the additive.—At temperatures between 58° C. and 82° C., IT INCREASES the asphalt viscosity, as compared to asphalt without the additive.—At temperatures lower than 25° C., IT REDUCES the asphalt viscosity, as compared to asphalt without the additive.

Precipitation and redis solution or sorbent-based techniques may be used to isolate a selected asphaltene subfraction before its addition to an emulsion hydrocarbon when that hydrocarbon is part of an emulsion or an ingredient of a yet-to-be-formed emulsion.
