摘要： An image reading apparatus is provided which allows a reading device fixed at a reading position to read images from a document while transporting the document. The apparatus includes a correcting unit adapted to perform correction processing associated with image reading performed by the reading device; a calculating unit adapted to calculate a time interval from one document to the next document that are being transported; a scheduling unit adapted to divide the correction processing into a plurality of steps and schedule the execution of the steps on the basis of the calculated time interval; and an executing unit adapted to sequentially execute the steps scheduled by the scheduling unit every time a document passes through the reading position.

摘要： A method and apparatus for preventing persons from leaving original documents in a document copier. A document is scanned by a document copier to produce a stored image thereof. Prior to producing any copies of the document, it is determined whether the document has been removed from the document copier. Producing any copies of the document is withheld unless it is determined that the document has been removed from the document copier. Alternatively, the stored image of the document may be examined to determine whether it includes selected information. If the stored image of the document includes the selected information, producing any copies of the document is withheld unless it is determined that the document has been removed from the document copier.

摘要： A scanner-equipped apparatus includes a combination of a base unit such as a printer unit, personal computer or word processor incorporating a printer unit and a scanner unit. The printer unit and the scanner unit can operate as automatic sheet feeder type apparatus, respectively. The scanner unit can be used as a handy scanner in the state detached from the base unit. The basic unit and the scanner unit are disposed substantially in upstanding posture in parallel with each other, wherein the scanner unit is removably combined with the base unit so that the scanner unit can be used as the handy scanner. A sheet transporting path for the scanner is formed between confronting surfaces of the base unit and the scanner unit. The sheet feeding mechanism for the scanner unit is so implemented as to be used intact as a driving mechanism for the handy scanner. The scanner-equipped apparatus can be realized inexpensively in a simplified mechanical structure while ensuring enhanced manipulatability.

When performing borderless image formation, the size of the image on the first photosensitive drum to be transferred to the midstream of the recording paper after detection of its edge position is changed to a smaller size based on the detection results by the line sensor, and subsequent image formation to the recording paper continues to be performed according to this image on the photosensitive drum whose size has been changed.
