    • An image-forming apparatus having an Automatic Background Removal (ABR) function in an automatic document feeder mode and an operation control method thereof. The image-forming apparatus includes a first movement unit to move a document loaded in a document tray from a first position to a second position; a second movement unit to move a carriage containing a light source from the first position to the second position; an image processing part to process an image of the document into predetermined image data; and a control part to control the image processing part to process an image of a specific portion of the document read out by the carriage fixed at the first position and to process an entire image of the document read out by the carriage fixed at the second position in use of a predetermined contrast equalization pattern selected based on a image processing result of the specific portion. The present general inventive concept can adjust the movements of the carriage and a document to perform the Automatic Background Removal function in the automatic document feeder mode to read out the image of the document with the document moving while the light source is fixed.

    • An optical writing system with at least two laser diodes capable of correcting hue deviations. The optical writing system is capable of correcting dot forming positions in the main scanning direction, and setting values for correction through an external key operation unit stored in a phase shift amount register by way of a CPU included in a main controller, and by applying values for arbitrarily shifting picture element clock phases for respective laser diodes. Thus, frequency fluctuations and characteristic changes in the laser diodes over time are compensated, positional precision with respect to a synchronization point is assured for respective laser diodes, picture images at the terminating edge in the main scanning direction is stabilized, and subtle hue variations can be reduced in half tone image portions during repeated full color image formations.

    • The present invention provides a color image processing system for processing drawings at high speed while reproducing color tone with fidelity. The color image processing system includes a digital processor that performs a raster operation on multigradation image data and generates an output image represented by a first plurality of color components. The system also includes a processor which separates the output image data into a second plurality of color components and stores the separated data in a memory. The system includes a reverse color separator which transforms the stored image data back into image data represented by the first plurality of color components and supplies this transformed image data to the digital processor. In a preferred embodiment, the digital processor performs an under color removal/black generation conversion to separate the output image data resulting from the raster operation into cyan, magenta, yellow and black color components. The reverse color separator performs a reverse under color removal/black generation conversion to restore the stored image data to a cyan, magenta, yellow format suitable for use by the digital processor.
