    • Several high pressure gas cylinders are attached together in a pack, each container having a valve at one end that controls flow of gas from the cylinder and each valve having a removable valve control handle, the cylinders being arranged coextensive and contiguous in the pack with all cylinder valves at the same end of the pack, a gas manifold at that end of the pack having a gas input for each cylinder and a gas output for feeding gas to a utilization device, a gas line from each cylinder valve to one of the manifold inputs and a manifold valve at the manifold output, so arranged that the manifold valve controls gas flow from the pack of cylinders to the utilization device and the cylinder valves control gas flow from each cylinders to the utilization device. In a preferred embodiment, a protective valve cap is provided for each cylinder valve secured to the cylinder and the valve control handle therefor is removable from and attachable to the valve without removing the cap, whereby all cylinder valve control handles in the pack can be removed and the valves are at all times protected by the caps, even while the pack provides gas to the utilization device, and so damage to the valves and/or tampering with the valves is prevented.

    • In a ship having a cargo tank, with a circular horizontal crosssection, which expands and contracts in service, supported therein, the improved tank support system comprising a plurality of spaced-apart support keys mounted on and located around the periphery of the tank in a substantially horizontal arrangement, each support key having a pair of opposing spaced-apart vertical key contact faces positioned to lie in a vertical plane radial to the vertical axis of the tank, a plurality of spaced-apart support keyways joined by connecting means to a ship hold, said support keyways being located around the periphery of the tank with a support keyway opposite each support key, each support keyway having a pair of opposing spaced-apart vertical keyway contact faces positioned at about the same radial angle as the key contact faces and positioned to have a keyway contact face in mating contact with a key contact face, a plurality of load bearing surfaces on the ship hold around the periphery of the tank, and a plurality of load applying surfaces on and around the periphery of the tank in slidable pressure contact with the load bearing surfaces, whereby upon expansion and contraction of the tank with temperature change uniform slidable support contact is maintained between mating key contact and keyway contact faces, and between the load bearing and load applying surfaces.

    • In a marine vessel having a hull structure for transporting or storing a cargo tank adapted to contain liquified and/or compressed gas, the tank is supported within the hull in any convenient manner by a support structure, with the exterior surface of the tank substantially entirely covered by a thermal insulation material. The insulation material also covers a portion of the support structure and extends from the point of juncture of the support structure with the tank towards a termination point spaced from the hull. The insulation material covering the support structure is tapered from a maximum thickness adjacent the point of juncture of the support means with the tank to a minimum thickness at the termination point so as to create a controlled temperature gradient in the support structure thereby to minimize the thermal stresses in the tank at the point of juncture thereof with the support structure.
