摘要： A steel piston with an oil gallery, and process for forming a steel piston oil gallery channel, which corresponds to the complex shape of the combustion bowl in the piston crown. The oil gallery channel is first forged to the basic shape that corresponds to the shape of the walls of the combustion bowl. Machine-turning surfaces in the oil gallery channel can be machine-finished as desired. Surfaces in the oil gallery which cannot be machined with conventional turning operations, such as recesses and protrusions into the channel, are left in the original forged condition.

The piston encloses a combustion-chamber recess and at least one cooling duct which are made centrally or eccentrically in the piston. The combustion chamber recess and the cooling duct form a circular contour or a contour which deviates from a circular shape.

摘要： A method for producing a cooling channel system for an internal combustion engine, which has a cooling channel in the piston crown. The piston crown is adjoined by a lower piston part having a piston boss, pin bores and piston skirts. Firstly, a piston blank having a peripheral collar projecting radially in the region of the piston crown is produced, wherein the collar, forming a subsequent ring zone wall is then reshaped and, in a transition area between the piston crown and the lower piston part, a contact area for the collar is formed, and the collar is reshaped in such a way until the outer radially peripheral edge comes very close to or completely into contact with the contact area in order to form a closed cooling channel. Following the reshaping, the end region of the ring zone wall forms a defined gap (X) with respect to the upper edge of the piston skirt.

摘要： A method for producing a piston for internal combustion engines includes the following steps: a first part is pre-fabricated by hot forging and a recess which has an undercut is formed in the first part during pre-fabrication by forming on the first part a projection, to which projection a lateral force is applied to form the undercut; a second part is pre-fabricated by hot forging and a projection is formed on this second part whose dimensions are matched to the dimensions of the recess; the two parts are joined together so that the projection on one part engages in the recess in the other part; and a compressive force is applied to the two parts which is sufficiently large and so aligned that the material of the projection on one part flows into the recess in the other part and completely fills it to connect the parts by positive fit.

The cross-head piston includes a piston head having a cylindrical wall, a lateral surface and an opposite inward surface. Each proximal end is affixed to the inward surface and each distal end defines a pin bore passing therethrough. A piston well is defined by the inward surface and the connection ears. The cylindrical cross pin is disposed coaxially with a central axis so as to be engaged with both pin bores. The cross pin defines a central cross pin oil passage passing transversely to the central axis. The cross pin is placed in relation to the piston head so that the second end of the cross pin oil passage is directed to the piston well.

摘要： A multi-axially forged mono-bloc piston includes a lower crown part forged of steel and including a pair of pin bosses and an integral skirt formed as one piece with the pin bosses 20. The lower crown part is friction welded to an upper crown part to form at least one closed oil gallery within the piston head. The lower crown part is forged in the longitudinal direction of the piston as well as laterally to impart longitudinal and laterally forged features of the piston. The laterally forged features may comprise undercut recesses formed in the piston skirt to reduce material in the overall piston structure. The lateral forging may also result in the piston skirt portion being discoupled from the piston head by laterally forged slots formed in the lower crown part 14 between the skirt and head.
