An alternate connection between the bearing housing and the low-pressure boost air pipe may be made via an oil return pipe to a lubricating oil tank and a balancing pipe between the lubricating oil tank and the low-pressure boost air pipe.

摘要： To remove pollutants in the exhaust gases from a liquid fuel driven engine, a turbosupercharger, including a turbine and a compressor, is combined with the engine to provide both afterburning and catalytic oxidation. The exhaust gases are accumulated to provide combustion in advance of the turbine. Further, air is branched off from the compressor and mixed with the gases flowing through the turbine to afford combustion of the gases after they pass through the turbine. Catalytically active surfaces are located within the turbine for the reduction of nitric oxides.

摘要： An engine comprises a pump adapted to communicate lubricating oil from the crank case thereof to a directional control valve. Upon engine start-up, the valve is conditioned to communicate oil through a filter and to a first manifold which, in turn, communicates with the crankshaft and rod bearings of the engine. Simultaneously therewith, cooled but unfiltered oil is communicated directly to bearings rotatably mounting a shaft in a turbocharger, mounted on the engine. After start-up, the valve will shift to further communicate unfiltered oil directly to a second manifold which, in turn, communicates with a plurality of jets for the purpose of cooling the pistons employed in the engine. The shifted valve will further function to permit communication of oil through the filter to the bearings of the turbocharger and to the crankshaft and rod bearings of the engine.

摘要： A journal shaft for a journal bearing assembly of an aircraft engine includes a shaft body extending along a longitudinal axis. The shaft body has a radially outer surface and a radially inner surface radially spaced apart from the longitudinal axis to define an inner cavity. An oil pocket is defined in the radially outer surface. One or more passages extend through the shaft body from the radially inner surface to the oil pocket to provide fluid communication between the inner cavity and the oil pocket. The oil pocket includes a radially inner base surface and interconnecting transition surfaces extending between the radially inner base surface of the oil pocket and the radially outer surface of the shaft body. The interconnecting transition surfaces form a fluid-dynamically smooth and edgeless transition to the radially outer surface of the journal shaft.

The housing extends along an axis and has a cross-bore surface defining a cross-bore to receive lubricant and a feed groove surface defining a feed groove. The feed groove surface has a constant radial portion extending circumferentially about a majority of the axis with a first groove radius that is constant and an expanded radial portion extending from the constant radial portion circumferentially about the axis with a second groove radius larger than the first groove radius. The bearing housing also has an interior surface having an interior radius smaller than the first groove radius and defining an interior. The bearing assembly is disposed in the interior and includes an outer race having a receiving groove surface defining a receiving groove, an inner race, and a rolling element disposed between the outer race and the inner race.
