摘要： Tension relieving means for safety belt retractors having biasing means for normally biasing an associated safety belt storage means toward a belt retracted condition when the associated safety belt is protracted are provided for restricting the retractive movement of the storage means when the belt is in use to provide a limited low tension travel for the belt which is automatically established on a slight retractive movement of the protracted belt and is maintained within the limits of a predetermined extent of low tension travel for the belt. Pawl means are pivotally mounted on a lower end of a tension arm pivotally mounted to the retractor frame having a free end roller engaging laterally against protracted portions of the webbing with a belt storage reel associated ratchet wheel adapted to be selectively engageable with the pawl whereby the retractive force of the biasing means for the belt storage means is reacted through the ratchet wheel, pawl means and tension arm with a mechanical lever disadvantage such that a resultant low tension retractive effect is applied to the belt automatically when the belt is placed into use.

摘要： A vehicle safety belt system includes a seat having a seat portion and a back portion provided with openings proximate its lower corners and at its upper side sections. Guide rollers are mounted on support members in the rear of the seat back adjacent each opening and a belt extends from the rear around each guide roller and forwardly through a corresponding opening, the inner end of each belt being anchored in the seat back at points remote from a corresponding guide roller either directly or through a belt take-up reel which may be automatically locked under inertia switch control. The belts extending through the bottom openings define lap belts and are provided with a tongue and buckle and the belts extending through the upper openings define shoulder belts and their front ends are connected to respective end portions of the lap belts. The belts extend in opposite directions from each roller.

摘要： This invention consists of an ordinary seat belt embodying two straps that are buckled together over the lap of a person sitting in the seat of an automotive vehicle or the like; and a shoulder harness having one end riveted or otherwise secured to one of the aforesaid straps of the seat belt. The shoulder harness passes upward, around and down over a rotatably mounted pulley that is in the lower end of a pulley support. The aforesaid pulley support is swingably secured to a toggle bracket which is riveted or otherwise fastened to the underside of the roof of an automotive vehicle or the like. The rear and lower end of the aforesaid shoulder harness is now secured to a retrieving and storing pulley, after passing over the aforesaid pulley as previously stated, the retrieving and storing pulley being secured to the upper end of a vertically disposed strap that has its lower end firmly secured to the body of the aforesaid automotive vehicle or the like.
