An example method includes providing a polymer processing system, providing a mold having at least one expandable mold cavity in fluid communication with the polymer processing system, mixing polymeric material and blowing agent within the polymer processing system to produce a unfoamed mixture, injecting a volume of the mixture of polymeric material and blowing agent from the polymer processing system and into the expandable mold cavity, and expanding the mold cavity to expand the unfoamed mixture within the mold cavity and form a foamed preform. Thereafter, the foamed preform may be inserted into a compression mold to press-form the foamed preform into a finished part.

The method further includes combining the epoxy-containing compound with the cationic catalyst, the optional blowing agent, and the at least one additive, wherein the epoxy-containing compound and the cationic catalyst react to polymerize the epoxy-containing compound to provide the foam having a density from about 0.3 lbs/ft3 to about 5.0 lbs/ft3 as measured by ASTM D1622. The polyurethane foam contains a foaming liquid containing (A) a polyol, (B) a polyisocyanate, (C) water and (D) a catalyst. The polyol (A) contains from 40 to 50% by mass of (a-1) a polyether polyol having a molar ratio of repeating units derived from ethylene oxide and propylene oxide of from 5/95 to 25/75 and a number average molecular weight of from 6,000 to 8,000, and from 5 to 15% by mass of (a-2) a polyether polyol having a molar ratio of repeating units derived from ethylene oxide and propylene oxide of from 0/100 to 20/80 and a number average molecular weight of from 600 to 2,000. The amount of water (C) is 2.0 parts by mass or more per 100 parts by mass of the polyol (A).

The foamed article made by the method has a density of from about 0.1 to about 0.45 g/cm3.

First, polyisocyanate, polyol and any crosslinking and/or chain-extending agent are mixed and reacted at a temperature of 110° C. to 180° C. to give a prepolymer having polyisocyanate groups. Second, the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer obtained and any remaining polyisocyanate are mixed with any remaining polyol, blowing agent comprising water, and any remaining crosslinking and/or chain-extending agent and also any catalyst and other auxiliaries and/or additives are introduced into a mold and allowed to fully react to give a polyurethane shoe sole.

摘要： A cavity between inner and outer walls of an open-box-shaped mould is filled with a polyurethane reaction mixture, containing an isocyanate and an emulsion of an isocyanate-reactive composition with three polyols and a blowing agent, which is cured to a polyurethane containing polymer. The inner and outer wall are a fixed distance from one another and each wall comprises a bottom and sides. The mixture is fed through an inlet in the bottom of the outer wall. Before filling the cavity, the mould is turned downwards so that the mixture foams upwards, filling the cavity. The three polyols are polyether polyol obtained by adding an epoxy to carbohydrates or difunctional or higher-functional alcohols; polyether polyol obtained by adding an epoxy to an aromatic amine; and polyester polyether polyol obtained by adding an epoxy to the esterification product of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid derivative and a difunctional or higher-functional alcohol.

The present invention further relates to polyurethane moldings obtainable by this process, and to the use of said moldings as shoe sole, steering wheel, seat, or armrest.
