摘要： A technique is disclosed of controlling a layer count of actual layers within a layered media stream having a maximum number “M” of layers that include “m(0≦m≦M)” video layers and an audio layer. The technique includes: receiving from at least one destination a quality event indicative of audio quality of the audio layer; calculating an estimated value of subjective quality of the received audio layer, based on the received quality event; calculating a quality value indicative of transmission quality of the media stream, based on the calculated subjective quality, and a ratio of a layer count “m” of at least one of the video layers, to the maximum number “M;” and, based on the calculated quality value, controlling a layer count of actual layers within the media stream.

摘要： The invention provides a process for producing a single-crystal substrate with an off-angle, which comprises using, as a substrate, a material capable of epitaxial growth by a vapor-phase synthesis method, whose surface has an off-angle with respect to a crystal plane capable of epitaxial growth; implanting ions into the substrate having a surface with an off-angle to form a layer with a deteriorated crystal structure near the surface of the substrate; growing a crystal on the surface with an off-angle of the substrate by a vapor-phase synthesis method; and separating a grown crystal layer from the substrate. In accordance with the process of the invention, when producing off-substrates usable in vapor-phase synthesis of single crystals, the manufacturing costs can be reduced, and substrates with an identical off-angle can be produced easily and in large quantities.

摘要： The present invention provides a moving picture re-encoding apparatus, which can generate correct reproducible encoded data by a light-load simple process when encoded moving picture data are converted or edited. It is provided with: a decoding means 12 that decodes frames of a moving picture from an encoded bit stream; a frame selecting means 15 that selects a frame to be re-encoded from the decoded frames; an encoding means 14 that re-encodes only the selected frame; and an interval notifying means 13 that calculates a frame interval, after the re-encoding of a frame, between the frame and a next frame to be re-encoded to notify the decoding means of the calculated frame interval. The decoding means 12 decodes the bit stream for time based on the notified frame interval after the notification from the interval notifying means 13. The frame selecting means 15 selects the last frame as the next frame to be re-encoded among the frames until the time passes.

摘要： An object of the invention is to provide an image coding device and an image decoding device enabling a transmitting color function through irreversible coding by performing the processing to reduce the occurrence of noises at the encoder's end without using a mask image. A grayscale shift unit shifts the grayscale of a transmitting color of an original image, after which a coding unit performs irreversible coding on the image. A transmitting color judging unit judges the transmitting color of a decoded image based on luminance information alone, and an up-sampling unit restores an outline of an object faithfully without being accompanied by deterioration in resolution resulted from the sub-sampling. It is thus possible to obtain a high-quality image with fewer noises.

摘要： A dielectric line switch is provided which is capable of easily controlling the propagation of an electromagnetic wave. Also provided is an antenna device employing said dielectric line switch. As an embodiment of the invention, a plurality of dielectric lines and a plurality of primary radiators are provided on a rotary unit. With the rotation of the rotary unit, the dielectric lines are switched ON and OFF by virtue of mechanical means, so that a desired change-over may be effected among the plurality of primary radiators in a time sharing manner, and the positions of the primary radiators may be shifted within a plane of the focal point of a dielectric lens, thereby enabling the transmission wave beam and/or reception wave beam to scan in a desired manner.
