    • The recording system of this invention comprises a plurality of data sources respectively supplying the weight of a weighed out load and additional information usually associated with the weighed load. The data information from these sources is stored in coded form or data words in separate storage units until a read-out and print command is selectively produced, at which time the stored information is read out by a logic circuit and printed by a line type printing machine. The printing machine has a plurality of motor driven alpha-numeric printing wheels, and there is a corresponding plurality of counters in the logic circuit. Each data word read out from storage is loaded into one counter, and the counters then count down to zero or some other reference value. During the countdown, clock pulses are conducted to operate the printing wheel motors, thereby advancing the print wheels. When each counter reaches zero or other reference value, the passage of clock pulses for driving the associated print wheel motor is inhibited, thus stopping advancement of the associated printing wheel at its proper printing position. The logic circuit further provides for the printing of a plurality of lines with the same set of printing wheels by reading out the stored information sequentially according to the lines of print and by re-positioning the printing wheels after each line of print.

    • A method for selectively printing different messages on labels printed by an in-store scale involves providing an in-store scale including a label printing mechanism with a supply of labels and a communications link for receiving information from a site external to the store. The scale label printing mechanism is configured in a first state and, during the first state, simultaneous printing of two types of information on a first label takes place. In particular, both (i) product information for a specified product to which the first label will be applied and (ii) a first message pertaining to a product which is different than the specified product to which the first label will be applied, are printed on the first label. The in-store scale receives a message control signal via the communications link which configures the scale label printing mechanism in a second state. During the second state, simultaneous printing of two types of information on a second label takes place. In particular, both (i) product information for a specified product to which the second label will be applied and (ii) a second message, different than the first message, and also pertaining to a product which is different than the specified product to which the second label will be applied, are printed on the second label.

    • A system and method of calculating chemical usage during a refilling of a supply tank, which includes the steps of providing a chemical system having a first supply tank of known capacity, wherein the tank is mounted upon an electronic scale. The scale is capable of generating a series of signals related to the weight of the tank when empty and at various levels of fill. A system controller receives a series of signals from the scale relating to the weight of the tank when empty and at various levels of fill. The first supply tank is filled from a source of chemical feed and the fill time for the filling of the first supply tank is obtained. The system controller inputs the series of signals from the scale relating to the weight of the tank when empty and at various levels of fill and calculates a usage during refilling based on a feed rate times the fill time.
