    • To permit greater through-put of a mold box filling and compacting system, mold boxes are moved vertically by a lifting table which passes through the station transport turret (10) to place a pattern or mold carrier plate (11, 12) in the mold box, and, upon continued vertical movement, placing a filling frame (14) about the mold box, and, upon further vertical movement, placing the thus formed subassembly in engagement with a sand filling apparatus (15). Upon subsequent lowering, the subassembly is returned to the turret, the turret rotates and places the subassembly in position for alignment with a compacting station, raises the subassembly to the compacting station for compaction of the sand about the model or pattern. The subassembly is then lowered; after lowering for a short distance, the fill pattern transport, for example another turret or pivotable arm system, is placed in interfering position with the filling frame so that it is stripped off the mold box which is then lowered on a removal conveyor, for removal from the compacting station; continued downward movement at the compacting station table then places the now freed pattern or model carrier plate again on the station transport turret for return to the first position. Sand filling and compaction can be carried out simultaneously on sequentially arriving mold boxes under control of a control system (C) which controls appropriate sequencing.

    • A system for producing foundry molds providing a device for filling empty mold boxes with mold forming material at a filling station includes a first rotary shifting device and a second rotary shifting device located on opposite sides of the filling station. The first shifting device operates to shift pattern devices from the filling station to a first shifting station while simultaneously moving another pattern device from the first shifting station into position at the filling station. Likewise, the second shifting device moves mold halves from the filling station to a second shifting station while simultaneously moving an empty mold box from the second shifting station to the filling station. The pattern devices are moved to and from the first shifting station by a first conveyor device and the empty mold boxes and the mold halves are moved to and from the second shifting station by a second conveyor device which extends generally parallel to the first conveyor device. A third parallel conveyor device transports assembled filled mold boxes and pattern devices from the filling station to a single-station mold forming unit.

    • A molding machine for producingcasting molds has several angularly spaced molding stations and includes a main column and at least one swivel column positioned within and rotatable relative to the main column. Swivel bearings connect swivel arms to the main and swivel columns so that the arms extend transversely of and can be moved between the molding stations. Box frames for forming mold parts are secured to the free ends of the swivel arms so that they can be inverted or turned over. The swivel arms can be moved one above the other with the box frames holding mold halves which can be combined to form a complete mold.

    • Automatic sand mold fabricating apparatus and a method for using the apparatus is disclosed. The present invention provides at least a first cope and a first drag. Preferably, first and second copes and first and second drags are used. Where two pairs of copes and drags are utilized, the first pair will be filled at two diametrically opposed stations while the other pair will be positioned at one of two ejection stations that are both 90.degree. spaced apart from the first and second stations. The pairs of copes and drags alternate between the filling stations that are diametrically opposed to each other and the ejection stations which are 90.degree. away. A mechanism is also provided for selectively inserting a core at either one or both of the ejection stations, and a mechanism for selectively inverting the impression forming member to thereby permit two concurrently operating discharge conveyors for the finished sand molds and to also permit differently shaped molds to be formed without interrupting the sand casting mold fabrication procedure. A feature of the present invention is that each of the drags is inverted during its travel from its loading or filling station to either of the two ejected stations.
