摘要： The present invention makes it possible to accurately determine an EGR rate from an in-cylinder pressure. An EGR rate determination method for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention, a combustion period is calculated by using in-cylinder pressure data measured by an in-cylinder pressure sensor. An in-cylinder flame velocity is then calculated from the combustion period. Next, in accordance with prepared data indicative of the influence of an engine speed on the flame velocity, a portion of the flame velocity calculated from the combustion period that is affected by the engine speed is eliminated. Eventually, a current EGR rate is determined from the flame velocity from which the portion affected by the engine speed is eliminated.

摘要： An internal combustion engine and control system are provided having improved efficiency through improved exhaust flow control. The engine includes at least one bank of combustion cylinders and a respective exhaust manifold for conveying exhaust to the atmosphere. Further included is an exhaust gas restriction valve (ERV) associated with the exhaust manifold for selectively increasing backpressure on the associated bank of combustion cylinders and for redirecting a portion of the exhaust into an exhaust gas conditioning system for conditioning the portion of the exhaust and returning it to an air intake of the engine. An engine exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve in the exhaust gas recirculation system restricts the flow of conditioned exhaust, and an EGR flow controller operates the EGR valve in one of a substantially open and substantially closed condition and controls the flow of conditioned exhaust to the air intake by modulating the ERV.

摘要： A diagnostic apparatus for a catalyst in a fuel-property reforming system includes an inlet-side temperature sensor disposed upstream of the fuel-reforming catalyst and an outlet-side temperature sensor disposed downstream of the fuel-reforming catalyst. In a reforming driving mode, while the EGR valve is opened to recirculate a part of exhaust gas into the intake pipe, a reforming-fuel injector injects a reforming fuel into the EGR gas. A fuel-reforming catalyst reforms the fuel into a fuel having high-combustibility. A differential temperature between a temperature detected by the inlet-side temperature sensor and a temperature detected by the outlet-side temperature sensor is compared with a deterioration-determination threshold, whereby a computer determines whether the fuel-reforming catalyst is deteriorated.
