摘要： An aftertreatment device for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), hydrocarbon (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) generated by a compression-ignition (CI) engine. In this device, lean exhaust air generated in the CI engine is converted to rich exhaust air, and energy used for the conversion is recycled using an energy recovery device. The result rich exhaust air then pass through an oxidation catalyst, where NOx is reduced with CO and HC.

The process is characterized in that the absorptivity of the partial structures is modified relative to one another by precoating of the catalyst support with a material which can be burnt out or with liquid, and the catalytic coat is then applied to the filter body in a known manner, dried and/or calcined.

In at least one embodiment, the emission control system includes an exhaust passage for transporting the exhaust from the combustion process; a reductant disposed within exhaust passage downstream of the combustion process, and an integrated particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction unit disposed downstream of the reductant, with the unit having a first selective catalytic reduction catalyst disposed within a first inner wall portion of the exhaust passage; and a particulate filter disposed within a second inner wall portion of the exhaust passage downstream of the first inner wall portion. In at least one particular embodiment, the particulate fileter is coated with a second selective catalytic reduction catalyst.

A ratio D/V of the diameter D (mm) of the honeycomb filter to the displacement V (liter) of the diesel engine is preferably 15 mm/liter or more. The honeycomb filter and an SCR catalytic converter are preferably contained in one case.

The engine hood assembly may be preassembled so that the exhaust aftertreatment system is integrated into the enclosure. This may allow the hood assembly to be assembled to the machine and the exhaust aftertreatment system mated to an exhaust pipe from the engine as a unit while the machine is being built on an assembly line. The engine hood assembly may include ventilation openings to assist in heat rejection from the engine compartment and from the exhaust aftertreatment devices. The hood assembly of the present disclosure finds particular application in assisting large track type tractors in meeting ever more stringent exhaust emission requirements without extensive and expensive redesign alternatives.
