摘要： The present invention relates to a fire resistant material and, in particular a fire resistant panel for use on vessels such as ships where lightweight materials are required. The fire resistant material includes a matrix or basalt mineral fibers and glass fibers. Each of the types of fibers are substantially uniformly distributed throughout the material, preferably, a panel. The relative size of the basalt fibers and glass fibers is such that the glass fibers are smaller than the basalt fibers and are interspersed between the basalt fibers in the matrix. A method for the production of a fire resistant composite material according to the invention is also described.

摘要： A printed circuit board is made from at least one non-woven sheet or web layer comprising at least 50% by weight acrylic fibers, with any balance substantially electrically non-conductive fibers, filler, and binder. The sheet or web is preferably made by the foam process, and may contain 60-80% straight polyacrylonitrile fibers and 40-20% fibrillated (pulp) ones. The web or sheet is preferably compressed by thermal calendering so that it has a density of about 0.1-1 grams per cubic centimeter; and the web or sheet may have a basis weight of between about 20-120 grams per square meter. The web or sheet may also have a 1-40% of substantially electrically non-conductive organic or inorganic binder, or may be substantially binder free. A printed circuit board made using the layers of these non-woven webs or sheets is otherwise conventional, including a pre-preg material, electrically conductive circuit elements, and electronics, and has improved properties compared to woven glass and non-woven aramid products, including improved fiber consolidation, easy board construction, and improved MD/CD ratio and stability.

The present invention also provides an interior ceiling panel having enhanced electric radiation barrier properties attained by applying a metal foil to the foregoing ceiling panel. A novel incombustible sound-absorbing electric radiation-absorbing ceiling panel having a thickness of from 1 mm to 30 mm is obtained by subjecting a water-dispersed slurry of a mixture of from 67 to 92 wt-% of a rock wool, from 0.5 to 8 wt-% of a beaten pulp, from 2 to 13 wt-% of a binder made of an organic resin, from 0.15 to 1 wt-% of a flocculating agent, from 0.5 to 10 wt-% of a natural mineral fiber and from 0.02 to 1 wt-% of a carbon fiber having a fiber length of from 1 mm to 30 mm to wet paper making.

摘要： A process for manufacturing a filter medium includes preparing a pH 3-5 aqueous suspension of cellulose fibers in a pulper or beater with a concentration of between 3% and 5%. A pH 2.8-3.8 aqueous suspension of glass fibers is prepared in a pulper or beater with a fiber concentration of between 0.5% and 1.2%. A first pulp consisting exclusively of cellulose fibers is prepared, to which a moisture-resistant resin is added. A second pulp is prepared consisting of cellulose fibers and glass fibers in proportions of between 30% and 70%, to which a moisture-resistant resin is added. Two superposed layers of the pulps are formed by methods used in paper manufacture. The two layers are collected on a layer of material able to absorb water. The two superposed layers of pulp are pressed to a pressure of between 0.1 and 1 kg/cm.sup.2. The resultant sheet is dried to a moisture content of 1%. The dried material is impregnated with a 50 wt % solution of acrylic latex, and dried again. The dried material is then wound on a reel.

摘要： A mat containing highly machine direction oriented (90% or greater), discontinuous reinforcement fibers, is produced on inclined wire or rotary paper making machinery. Fibers are first uniformly dispersed in an aqueous medium containing thickeners and wetting agents. In one embodiment, antifoaming agents are also added to prevent floating fibers which entangle and reduce orientation. Thermoplastic fibers or particles may also be included. Stock is brought into an open headbox in a flow pattern which allows the fibers to decelerate before approaching the porous suction belt (wire). 摘要： The present invention is a non-woven fiber mat suitable for reinforcing resilient sheet floor coverings, such as vinyl floor coverings. The non-woven fiber mat is in the form of a sheet of reinforcement fibers which at least includes semi-coiled fibers and can also include coiled fiber, with one or more turns, and even some relatively straight or slightly curved fibers. It is desirable for most, if not all, of the reinforcement fibers to be made from glass. However, it may also be desirable for the reinforcement fibers to include glass fibers and synthetic fibers. It may even be possible for the reinforcement fibers to include only non-glass fibers. At least one polymeric binder is used for bonding together the reinforcement fibers so as to make the fiber mat a suitable substrate for reinforcing resilient sheet floor coverings, such as an interlayer for vinyl floor coverings. By using a non-woven fiber mat containing reinforcement fibers that are not completely straight and capable of interlocking with one another, a resilient sheet floor covering made with such a mat can exhibit improved planar compressibility.

摘要： An irregularly shaped glass fiber is provided which enjoys improved resiliency, and openness in pack structures. Wool packs and other wool portions having such irregularly shaped fibers may be processed directly through needling to form a non-woven material without intervening steps such as carding or blending of fibers which accompany conventional glass fiber processing operations. In a further aspect of the invention, a non-woven material including irregularly shaped fibers in a generally continuous wool tow is produced by "unwinding" a fiberglass wool pack collected by a direct forming method. Product applications include simplified, lower cost processing, and new uses of the irregularly shaped fibers produced by rotary fiberization in filtration elements, sorbants, gaskets, packings, shingles, composite structural elements, furnishings, textiles, yarns, and blown-in insulation systems.
