摘要： A compact integrated combustion reactor is described. In a preferred embodiment, the combustion catalyst is disposed in a staggered configuration such that the hot spot in an adjacent endothermic reaction chamber is substantially less than would occur with a conventional, unstaggered configuration. The integrated reactor may also include a methanation chamber for methanation of a reformate product. Systems containing reactant and product streams, and methods of conducting integrated combustion reactions are also described. A staggered catalyst conformation can be used more broadly for thermal chemical reactions requiring heat transfer in a layered device.

摘要： Provided are improved carbon monoxide removal articles and processes for treating hydrogen gas streams to achieve very low threshold levels of carbon monoxide. The articles have a substrate with an inlet end, an outlet end, a length extending between the inlet end to the outlet end, wall elements and a plurality of cells defined by the wall elements. A first layer is deposited on the wall elements from the inlet end and extending at least partially toward the outlet end. The first layer has a preferential carbon monoxide oxidation catalyst. A second layer contains a methanation catalyst, and is deposited on at least part of the first layer from the outlet end. The second layer has a length that is about 10-70% of the substrate length.

摘要： Method and apparatus for converting hydrocarbon fuels to hydrogen-rich reformate that incorporate a carbon dioxide fixing mechanism into the initial hydrocarbon conversion process and for providing a continuous supply of hydrogen-rich reformate. The apparatus includes a reforming reactor that has a catalyst bed comprising a reforming catalyst, a carbon dioxide fixing material and an optional water gas shift catalyst; a hydrogen storage device for storing reformate; and a controller for controlling the delivery of reformate from the reactor and/or storage device to an outlet. Optionally, the apparatus can include a heating device for heating the catalyst bed and a polishing unit for removing impurities from the reformate. The reforming reactor is operable in reforming and non-reforming modes. During non-reforming modes, the hydrogen storage device provides reformate to the outlet so as to maintain a continuous supply of reformate. A method for providing a continuous supply of hydrogen-rich reformate for use in a hydrogen-consuming device or process is also provided.
