摘要： A closure for a bottle containing still wine, comprising a plastic cap having a central opening which exposes the upper portion of a cork rigidly secured to the cap; the cork permitting the still wine in the bottle to breathe sufficiently for aging of the particular wine. The configuration of the opening functions as a guide for a corkscrew. The cap has an inner ring which is resiliently expansible for snugly receiving the cork which is also secured to the cap by adhesive means, an outer ring in the cap secured concentrically to the inner ring for bearing against the lip of the wine bottle. The inner ring may be provided with dimples or flanges to augment the securing relationship of the cap to the cork. The central opening may be large enough to receive and guide the corkscrew as a whole, or one or several smaller openings may be provided to receive and guide the spiralshaped shaft of the corkscrew. A cap threaded on the neck of the bottle, the cap having a cork secured to its underside and being provided on its top with an opening or plurality of openings so that the cork can breathe, the cork being in a state of compression and of a thickness adapted for aging the particular wine in the bottle. An optical optional plastic insert between the cap and cork retards the diffusion of atmospheric gases into and out of the wine bottle.

摘要： An apparatus and method for coating an end of a stoppered beverage bottle in wax are provided. A cap assembly is positioned over a mouth of the bottle prior to coating the end of the bottle in wax. The cap assembly may facilitate removal of a portion of the wax from the bottle to allow removal of the stopper and dispensing of the beverage. In an implementation, the cap assembly includes a cap portion sized to be received over at least a portion of a bottle mouth and the stopper. A spike protrudes downwardly from the cap portion, and is configured to at least partially pierce a bottle stopper. A tear ring is frangibly attached to the cap portion by one or more regions of mechanical weakening. A pull tab extends outwardly from the tear ring to facilitate frangible separation of the tear ring from the cap portion.

The apparatus further includes a removable secondary cap configured to engage the primary cap to secure the vessel, the secondary cap including at least one lug, the lug having a shear zone that contacts the projection when the primary and secondary caps are engaged and secured to a vessel. When the secondary cap is removed from the primary cap, the shear zone is broken by the projection such that the secondary cap cannot by reinstalled on the primary cap.
