    • A cap for a container closure or closure plug includes a cap top having a top surface and a bottom surface, and an attachment ring extending axially downward from the bottom surface of the cap top under a central portion of the cap top. The attachment ring is securingly engageable with a container closure or closure plug. The attachment ring includes a cam surface extending radially outward from the attachment ring, where the cam surface deflects the attachment ring radially inward upon engagement of the attachment ring with the container closure or closure plug. The cap top and the attachment ring are connected by at least one frangible connection and at least one permanent connection, where the at least one permanent connection retains the cap top in one piece upon breaking of the at least one frangible connection for removal of the cap from the container closure or closure plug.

    • The present invention provides a closure with a thread configuration adapted for snap-on or screw-on application to a container neck finish. The present invention preferably provides at least one annular sealing bead depending from the outer surface of the closure valve which are compressed against the inner surface of the container neck to form a seal as the closure is snapped onto the container neck. The present invention also preferably provides plurality of elevated areas extend upwardly from the tamper-evident band in spaced relation to the bottom edge of the closure body to support the tamper evident band in resisting vertical movement imparted by insertion of the closure on the bottle neck, thereby protecting the frangible elements during assembly. At least one and preferably a plurality of circumferentially spaced lugs optionally extend from the exterior wall of the container neck to facilitate breaking the frangible elements on the tamper-evident band of the closure by engaging the frangible elements as the closure is twisted off the container neck following initial snap-on application. The closure is optionally provided with at least one member attached to the tamper-indicating ring which cooperates with the arcuate projection to assist in breaking said tamper indicating ring during removal of the closure from the container neck. A second preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a threaded tamper-evident plastic closure having a tamper-evident band containing the above-described features, for use with a tamper evident push-pull resealable pour spout which is substantially leak proof. The present invention also optionally provides a dust cover which encloses the push-pull pour spout closure when inserted on the container. When the dust cover is provided with a tamper-evident sealing band, the use of a band on the lower edge of the pour spout closure for providing tamper-evidency may be eliminated.

    • A closure structure or cap for a two compartment vial includes a resilient stopper having a cylindrical body with a lower shoulder portion adapted for sealing fit in the mouth of the vial and a second circumferential shoulder at is upper end. A substantially rigid hollow cylindrical sleeve is configured to surround the mouth of the vial, and has, at its upper end, integrally constructed downwardly projecting longitudinally split fingers dimensioned to embrace the stopper, with the bottoms of the split fingers engaging and resting upon the lower shoulder portion of the rubber stopper. An internal groove in the split fingers engages the lower edge of a second shoulder of the stopper thereby gripping the stopper. A locking member is disposed between the longitudinally split fingers and the inside walls of the hollow cylindrical sleeve or cap, forming means to prevent spreading of the fingers and thereby preventing the loosening of the grip of the fingers on the stopper. The cylindrical sleeve is of such length that its lower end extends below the bottom of the stopper, whereby when the closure is removed from the vial and is placed on a support surface only the lower end of the sleeve rests on the surface. Optionally, the locking member includes a frangible tab which, after removal exposes the upper surface of the resilient stopper for puncturing with a hypodermic needle, thereby permitting removal of liquid from the vial with a needle and syringe.

    • An improved safety closure device and a method for making same are described. A cylindrical closure element adapted to close the mouth of a bottle or the like by frictional engagement with the interior facing surface of the mouth is joined via a cap portion to a cylindrical retainer collar, extending substantially coaxial with the closure element, by an intercoupling means comprising a tabbed tear strip and a tether strip. The tear strip and the tether strip are integrally formed in a helical configuration extending from the closure element to the collar. The tether strip and tear strip are joined by a pair of frangible webs of a preselected thickness which permit the tear strip to be manually removed. The collar and intercoupling section, including the cap portion thereof, are molded as a unitary structure. The closure element is formed as a separate unitary structure and is secured mechanically to the intercoupling means preferably by a snap-fit means about the periphery of one end of the closure element.
