    • An apparatus for mounting one or two handheld type orbital thereto is described to permit a user to sand a floor surface from a standing position while moving the mounted sander(s) to and fro by way of a broom handle extending from the apparatus. Typically, the apparatus includes one fixed mount and one moveable mount. Each mount is configured to facilitate attachment to an orbital sander. The moveable mount can be placed and secured in one of two positions: A first position that centers a single sander in line with the handle and a second position wherein the fixed mount is located to one side of the handle and the moveable mount is secured essentially an equal distance on the other side of the handle.

    • A sponge sander configured for selective attachment to a dust-collection system includes a housing having a housing-interior surface defining a sponge cavity and a sponge seat configured for removably retaining a determinately-dimensioned sanding sponge. The sponge has an abrasive sanding surface, a back surface opposite the sanding surface and a sponge periphery defined between the sanding and back surfaces. The sponge is retained within the sponge cavity such that (i) the abrasive sanding surface can engage a work surface to be sanded, (ii) fluid-flow channels are maintained between the sanding sponge and the housing-interior surface and (iii) the spaces are in fluid communication with a fluid port defined in the housing so that when a negative pressure is applied across the fluid port by a vacuum system external to the housing, dust created by sanding is drawn into the fluid-flow channels and out of the housing through the fluid port.

    • A sanding block for sanding high and extended surfaces configured for use in combination with an attached pole. The sanding block is round in shape and is rotationally mounted on a pole mount that interfaces between the sanding block and the pole, which attaches to a rotatable hub of the pole mount. This allows the sanding block to rotate during use and the pole to be rotated to different angles in relation to the flat working surface of the sanding block. Adjacent surface marring is prevented by the rotation of the sanding block upon contact of a side edge with such an adjacent surface. Optionally the pole mount can be locked to prevent rotation if desired and a barrel can provide an interface between the pole and the pole mount. This barrel can be straight, angled, or adjustable for angle, in the different preferred embodiments.

    • A sanding device for use with an abrasive sponge includes a base, at least one retaining mechanism, and at least one engaging mechanism. The base has opposite supporting and working surfaces, the working surface being shaped and sized for receiving the abrasive sponge. Each retaining mechanism is mountable onto the base, and is configured for removably securing a first portion of the abrasive sponge against the working surface of the base. Each engaging mechanism is mountable onto the base, and is configured for projecting out from the working surface so as to penetrate a second portion of the abrasive sponge when resting against the working surface of the base, each engaging mechanism being further configured so as to draw the second portion of the abrasive sponge away from the first portion. Each engaging mechanism is operable between a first configuration, where it is disengaged from the abrasive sponge thereby allowing the abrasive sponge to be removed from the working surface of the base, and a second configuration, where it is penetrated within the second portion of the abrasive sponge and has drawn the second portion away from the first portion so as to securely maintain the abrasive sponge against the working surface of the base.

    • A sanding tool for sanding drywall corner joints is provided. The tool has an elongated mounting plate with a swivel handle attached to one side, and to the other side is attached one or more circular sanding disk holders to which disks of sanding medium are removably attached to a flat face of the sanding disk holder. The sanding disk holders are rotatably mounted on short axles attached to the mounting plate, and are each configured having a relatively wide edge that frictionally engages a wall adjacent the wall being sanded. This causes the sanding disk holder to rotate, sanding the drywall joint with a rotary motion instead of a linear motion.
