    • An extension frame for a pneumatically actuated buffer, further comprised of an elongated hollow post member; a receptacle removably connected at a distal end of the post member and adapted to releasably hold the buffer thereon; a rod member adapted to be slidably inserted within the post member and having a length that is longer than the post member; a palm handle assembly including an upper part removably connected to a proximal end of the post member, and a bottom part removably connected to a proximal end of the rod member. The palm handle assembly is adapted to push the rod member in a direction toward the receptacle. A biasing member is placed between the bottom part of the palm handle assembly and the receptacle and configured to bias the rod member in a direction away from the receptacle. A nipple member positioned within and extending through a bottom portion of the receptacle, such that when the bottom part of the palm handle assembly is pushed upwards and towards the upper part of the palm handle assembly the rod member is pushed upwards and the nipple member thereby moves upwards and into the receptacle in order to contact a trigger of the buffer to thereby activate the buffer, and when it is desired to deactivate the buffer.

    • A tool mounting construction which includes a tool holder having a pneumatic cylinder, a piston in said cylinder for mounting a tool, pressure regulating means in communication with the cylinder for maintaining the pressure in the cylinder substantially constant regardless of the forces applied to the tool holder to thereby cause the piston to press the tool against a workpiece with a substantially constant force, an elongated rod having a first end for bearing against an external surface remote from the workpiece, and a connection between the tool holder and a second end of the rod for effecting a connection therebetween to thereby apply a force on the tool holder from the bearing relationship between the rod and the external surface. The foregoing tool mounting construction is mounted in a kit with a plurality of tubular extension rods for varying the length of the rod. The kit also contains a chest pad and associated coupling members which permit a workman to bear against the tool mounting construction with his body weight rather than applying the force thereto by sheer arm strength. A tool having pneumatic or mechanical mechanism integral therewith for causing the tool to apply a predetermined force on a work surface regardless of the external force applied to the tool.     • A reciprocating sander particularly adapted for sanding remote surfaces such as ceilings and walls is provided by concentrating a substantial part of the weight of the sander in a motor assembly. A lightweight extension tube extends from the motor assembly to a universal joint which in turn is coupled to a sanding attachment. The sanding attachment includes clips which secures a piece of sandpaper in an mechanism for converting angular rotation of the universal joint into relative reciprocating motion of a sanding plate and sandpaper with respect to the sanding attachment. By bringing relative force between the sanding attachment and the motor assembly, a resiliently retained driving rod within the extension tube, which is coupled to the universal joint and sanding attachment, is forced downwardly in the extension tube toward the motor assembly. This ultimately causes two clutch parts to engage thereby permitting the transmission of the motive force to the sanding attachment. The reciprocating sanding plate carrying the sandpaper has a distance of reciprocation just equal to the overhang of the basal plate of the sanding attachment so that no dead zone is established around the periphery of the sanding attachment which is not effectively reached by reciprocating sandpaper. The universal joint coupling the sanding attachment to the extension tube is provided with contoured mated bearing surfaces so that the universal joint smoothly operates even when the joint is configured into extreme angular configurations which brings opposing parts of the joint in contact with each other.

    • An air powered device for abrading wall and floor surfaces. A turbine is disclosed within a dome-like housing. An abrading disc is powered by the turbine via a gear reduction drive. A source of reduced air pressure draws air into the housing past the periphery of the disc for the pick up of dust particles with the airflow path being inwardly to an area of low pressure located centrally of the turbine. A conduit member in communication with said source is movably attached to the dome-like housing and may additionally serve as a hand hold. An air barrier restricts the incoming airflow to the path over the periphery of the abrading disc.
