    • A spatial frequency filter is adapted to an image sensor having a two-dimensional spatial frequency plane whose first quadrant includes a first prescribed point, whose second quadrant includes a second prescribed point, whose third quadrant includes a third prescribed point and whose fourth quadrant includes a fourth prescribed point. The two-dimensional spatial frequency plane has a vertical axis and a horizontal axis. The spatial frequency filter includes the combination of a primary filter part for providing a first trap line passing through the first prescribed point and a second trap line passing through the third prescribed point, a secondary filter part for providing a third trap line passing through the second prescribed point and a fourth trap line passing through the fourth prescribed point, and a tertiary filter part for providing a fifth trap line passing through the first and fourth prescribed points and a sixth trap line passing through the second and third prescribed points. Each of the first to fourth trap lines crosses over the vertical and horizontal axes. The spatial frequency filter of the present invention so arranged suppresses spurious information along the slant and horizontal (or vertical) axes of the image sensor.

    • An apparatus for measuring a thickness of an object transparent to light utilizing an interferometric method includes a light source for generating a coherent light beam to which an object to be measured is transparent, an illumination unit for radiating onto the object the incident light beam as scanned over a range of angle of incidence varying from a predetermined angle of incidence .theta..sub.A to another predetermined angle of incidence .theta..sub.B, and a photosensor unit for detecting light intensity changes resulting from changing of the optical path difference between two light beams reflected by the upper and lower surfaces of the object. A count circuit receives an output signal from the photosensor unit and counts the difference between an order of interference fringes obtained for one scan of incident light beam having the predetermined angle of incidence .theta..sub.A to that having the other predetermined angle of incidence .theta..sub.B, and a calculating circuit converts the output from the count circuit into a value corresponding to the thickness of the object.

    • A projection-type image display device generates projection light by modulating light beams of at least three primary colors in accordance with image information and synthesizing the modulated light beams.
