    • A switch device that includes a case having a bottom wall and sidewalls; a fixed contact member; a movable contact member; a driving member mounted on the sidewalls; and restoring means for restoring the driving member to the original position. The driving member includes an actuating portion for moving the movable contact member and an operating portion for rotating the actuating portion, wherein the actuating portion moves the movable contact member and brings the movable contact member into contact with the fixed contact member when the operating portion is driven. The driving member is restored to the original state in which the movable contact member and the fixed contact member are brought out of contact by restoring means when the driven state of the operating portion is released.

    • A control mechanism that loads/unloads data storage tape is part of a tape drive that receives a removable tape cartridge. The tape cartridge stores the data storage tape that is movable using the control mechanism. The control mechanism includes a plurality of gears, together with a cam. A leader assembly is operably connected to the control mechanism. At least portions of the leader assembly are movable in connection with loading or unloading the data storage tape relative to the leader assembly. A leader pin is joined to an end of the data storage tape. When the loading operation is performed, portions of the leader assembly are moved generally linearly into the tape cartridge and then the control mechanism causes such portions to pivot in order to engage the leader pin and remove it from its seat. When the unloading operation is performed, the portions of the leader assembly are moved in substantially opposite directions from the loading operation.

    • A magnetic tape apparatus has a magnetic tape in a cartridge that is pulled out and travels, and data is read from and written into the travelling magnetic tape by a magnetic head. The centers of rotation of a first arm and a second arm which move together are arranged on the side of the cartridge and on the side of the machine reel, respectively, relative to the magnetic head, and a cleaning member such as a brush that comes into contact with the magnetic head is provided on at least one of the rotating ends of the two arms. The cleaning mechanism occupies small space, and the magnetic tape apparatus is realized in a small size.

    • In a magnetic tape drive for a single-reel type magnetic tape cartridge having a leader block coupled to a leading end of a magnetic tape wound therein, a hub for winding the tape pulled out of the cartridge is disposed at rear side of a magnetic head unit for writing data on and reading data from the tape, and has a radial slot formed therein for receiving the leader block of the tape threaded through the unit. The rotational direction of the hub is determined such that the leader block is subjected to an radially-inward force in the slot of the hub at the beginning of a rotational movement of the hub, whereby slippage of the leader block from the slot of the hub can be prevented. A flat flexible printed-circuit cable is-used in the drive to establish an electrical connection between a magnetic head of the unit and an amplifier printed-circuit board thereof, and includes a flexible plate having circuit patterns formed on the side faces thereof and connected to each other by through-holes formed therein, and connectors provided on the side faces of the plate and disposed at the ends thereof. The plate is symmetrically shaped with respect to a geometrical center thereof, and the connectors are symmetrically disposed thereto.
